Entry For Extra Magic Hour

I traveled to WDW back in May this year and purchased UPH passes with my stay at POR. I am considering advance purchase of PHP tickets at the local Disney Store. My question is, if you have the php tickets, how do they know that you are disney resort guest and entitled to the extra magic hour? When we went in May, we simply used our room key/park pass to enter the parks. How does this work?

They'll ask to see your resort key also. Happens with the AP as well.
It seems like they've cracked down on this more recently (last year or so). Back in the early 2000's - now that sounded funny- they never checked.

We have been to WDW six time since 1996 and have never been asked for a resort card at early entry. This may have changed and we will find out as we are going back in less than two weeks.

They weren't asking for any proof of resort guests in May of this year either. Nobody was getting carded. That made for an overcrowded wasted morning. That was my first and last EMH. I'd rather stay in bed! LOL!

My wife were "carded" (asked for resort ID/key) in May at Epcot & AK each morning we did EMH. They didn't check at MGM though.

My husband has an AP and was asked to show his room key at both the MK and the Transportation Center before entering.

We have been carded many times at EMH. Then there have been other times that we haven't been carded. It does seem like within the last 2 years, they have started to crack down on this more - which is great (usually means less crowds for EMH .)

It does seem like MK cards the most frequently, but we were also carded at AK & MGM - we usually don't do Epcot's EMH - so, not sure about there.

We've been there 3X last year and 3X this year and we were never carded at the bus or at the parks. We don't do MGM, so I don't know about that.
