It isn't separate buildings that make a resort motel style, but the exterior doors leading to the individual rooms. Luxury resorts such as the Poly have separate buildings for the rooms, but are not 'motel style' either. Hotels have interior corridors with entrances to rooms inside off those interior corridors. Motels have exterior walkways with entrances to the rooms directly from the outdoors. Motels do not have balconies.
At least, that is my understanding and meaning. I apologize for being unclear in my earlier post.
