Entertainment Passbook question

My son is selling them to help pay his way for his band trip next year to New York. Most of the coupons in the book are for things in Dallas which we would not use. But the hotel coupons might come in handy for our Christmas trip to Chicago.

So I guess my question is: When using the hotel coupons, do you have to make reservations? Or can you just show up at a hotel and show them the coupon. We would be using them for stays in route to and from Chicago. Our housing there is taken care of.

Does anyone know? This will help me decide whether or not I purchase a Passbook since I will be funding the majority of his trip expenses anyway.

I would suggest making reservations, although if you are flexible you may be able to make them while you are on the road. One thing about hotel deals... It is usually 50% off the Rack Rate or the 100% price, and often there are better deals to be had, even than the 50%. I found that if I could look at the book I could usually find 3 or 4 places I knew we would go, which would pay for the book, then anything else I used was just a bonus. There are usually inexpensive movie tickets in there too, which may be another place to make up any difference, and also some car rental upgrade coupons... Usually a couple FTD-type flower coupons, one for a Planet Hollywood thing which you could use in Pleasure Island if you are planning a trip. Keep in mind though their year goes from November 1 - October 31 - last time we had a bunch we had planned on using expire!

Thanks. I've been looking through the book and one good deal on a hotel would more than pay for it. I'll probably end up getting it just for that reason. We don't go into Dallas all that often but some of the chain restaurants that are here and in Dallas might honor the coupons since we are technically a bedroom community.
