Looking for a entertainment book/membership card pro.

I have never owned an entertainment book.

I have found a great rate (entertainment card rate) for a hotel in Mexico for Dec 2009 check-in.

At check-in I have to present an entertainment member card (the one that comes with each book).

Questions:

1. since all coupons end Nov 2009 in the 2009 books and I think the 2010 coupons don't start until Jan 2010 (could be wrong on this), do I purchase a 2009 book or the 2010 book for a membership card that is valid for a dec 30 2009 check in?

Is an expiry date printed on the membership cards? What is the expiration date on the 2009 card and the 2010 card ( I need the membership card to check into a hotel Dec 30, 2009)

2. What is the least expensive entertainment book to buy (which state/city combination). I only need to present the card at check-in so want to buy the least expensive book.

Any info. would be really helpful since I don't want to buy the wrong year/book.

thank you

The 2010 Entertainment Books come out in July/August. New books can be used immediately upon receipt.

I don't know which edition is least expensive--prices are listed on the Entertainment website though. All 2009 edition books are discounted.

Not all coupons for the 2009 editions expire November 2009. For example, rental car coupons are valid until June 30, 2010. There are also some for Hotwire, Orbitz, Cheap Tickets, etc. that are valid until December 31, 2009.

Entertainment cards do have an expiration date listed on the front.

If it were me in your situation, I would go ahead and buy the new edition although it will cost more than 2009 books, since most coupons do expire on November 1, 2009 for the 2009 books. Another option--if you plan to use other coupons anyway--go ahead and buy 2009 edition for your local area now at the discounted rate. Then sign up for the automatic renewal plan. Entertainment will automatically send you the 2010 book this summer--free shipping and I think $5 off the listed retail price.

I buy a card off of ebay, the last one cost me $1.99!

Unless you need the coupons in the book, that's the way to go, much cheaper than buying the actual book.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. Does anyone know that the expiration date on the 2009 membership cards is?

Thank you

November 1, 2009. I just went to the Entertainment website. All books for all cities 2009 edition are $9.99.

Wow, great idea since I only need the membership card to secure the entertainment card rate at the hotel. I assume then that the membership card that comes with each book DOES NOT have a member name on it????

No member name on the card. The original may or may not have registered it (I always do mine to get updates), but you could ask that specific question of an ebay seller.

Since the card does say expiration date of 11/1/09 on it, I would make sure to get a 2010 book/card. I bought a 2009 one for Orlando since I went Christmas, and my daughter will be going there on her honeymoon next week. We got more than enought out of it to get my money back on the Christmas trip.
