Hi everybody,
I have a couple of quick questions regarding the entertainment book rates I often read about. I found entertainment books website. From what I've gathered I would need a book for anaheim and not just any old book. Can I get and use one if I'm not a resident? Also how would I find out about the rates, call entertainment book or call the hotels themselves?
Thanks

You don't need to have the Anaheim Book. All you need is the card which comes with any area Entertainment Book. You can also buy just the card on ebay. I got one last week for $4.75.

You can use any old card from any old book. I bought last years card (the one expiring at the end of this month) for $5, used it over and over again this year for stays at HoJo. :)

And to book the rate, call the Anaheim hotel directly, at their local area code, during Pacific time business hours, but not during lunchtime. Ask for "in house reservations". If there's any phone weirdness, or if the person you're talking to gives you some crazy amount that differs from what you saw on the thread...you've likely been transferred to the 800 number people. End the call and call the local number later. :)

Do you need a card to sign into the website? Can someone kindly explain what the entertainment book is? Well I guess the main screen of the website briefly overviews it, but I would like a diser's explanation. I've seen "entertainment rate" a lot in posts, but do not know any info about it. If there's a thread with info that would be fine too. Thanks.

Pez, the entertainment rate is a 50% off rate for the Howard Johnson Anaheim, which is within walking distance to DLR (about 8 ish minutes).

This is the link to the entertainment rate calendar on the HoJo website.

If you put your dates into the online reservation spots and for the discount code put sd50, the rates should come up. Unless the Ent. rate is not available for some of your stay. I have never been successful with actually completing a reservation with the ent. rate through the website. There seems to be some sort of glitch, sometimes.

Just call the hotel, like Bumbershoot suggested, and talk to them in-house and be sure you ASK for the rate.

This link will take you to their address and phone number page.

The entertainment book is the book that is sometimes sold by local school or other groups that are doing some fundraising. If you have the book - you have the card. If you have a friend who has the book - borrow their card. The card doesn't have to be activated or registered to a particular user, you just need to have it.

Hope that answers your question. :upsidedow

If you're talking about signing into the entertainment.com website, no you don't have to have a card to make an account. Just make the account, and later if you buy a card you can link them up.

There are many other things besides the hojo anaheim discount...but that discount is probably *the* most valuable for a Disneyland person. :)

The OP's original question was about which book to get; as has been answered, get whichever one works for your situation. For us, we buy the South Puget Sound one to get all the Tacoma area discounts (though the coffee shops there are coupons for seem to be closing like crazy) including the 4 $5 coupons for the grocery store where we shop all the time.

So sign in to the site, look around (knowing that the discounts showing online aren't all the discounts in the book) after telling it what area you want to look at, and see which book would work the best for you.

Ok great, thank you both for your information :thumbsup2. I've seen the HOJO there, and my friend and I are curious about it because of its popularity on the board so we're thinking about checking it out. Does seem like a far walk, but it's probably just as far a walk as the onsite hotels. I've stayed at both the Grand Californian and Disneyland Hotel, and from the park to the room was a nice little trek :tiptoe::tiptoe:

The walk is less than 10 min. for us. Especially in the morning, at night after walking all day it feels longer, it probably is but it's very doable. :)
