Entertainment Book- I shouldn't have assumed!

OK, maybe I didn't fully understand the concept of the Entertainment Book before I dove in and purchased it. How long are they supposed to be good for? I was under the assumption (you know what happens when you assume) that it was good for one year from purchase , or at least for the rest of the calendar year. I got my card and book in the mail yesterday and it says it's only valid through November 1, 2004. We were planning our trip from the 6-13 of November :( I looked and didn't see anywhere on the website where it states how long your card is good for after you purchase it...I know...I know...I should have called and asked, but who would've thought? 6 months? It's weird. Am I just an idiot :teeth: or are there other people out there that didn't know this either?

Thanks

That's the reason that the price of the books drops to $10. Many of us buy the EB most years and are aware of the expiration date. You can probably return your book and get your money back.

The books run from Nov to Nov. In the past it used to be from Dec to Dec, but sometime in the last 5 years that changed. Unfortunately, I need to wait too to get my book for my Dec. trip. They usually go on sale in Aug. or Sept.

Our local one was still at $25 when I looked last week. I saw the post about $10 and checked it out but I guess IN peeps are stingy. :p

Had to add this. Went back to MyPoints and looked at our local book again and it's now only $9.99 too!!!

we had the same thing happen to us last year...went in november and had purchased the book with that trip in mind

although we had a couple of other trips to orlando pop up so we could use it for them, we use the book for the rental coupons a lot so it was not all amiss....the coupons for rentals usually expire on dec 31 200x

maybe you can sell it to someone else who is going to florida before November ( at least that way you get some of your "investment" back )

I think I will go back and look through all the coupons. With the new 7 for 5 deal that is HOPEFULLY coming out tomorrow we can probably stay on-site and won't have to worry about using the E discount for the 50% off hotel stay. I'll see if I can use any of the restuarant coupons or anything...it was only $15 (w/shipping) so no huge loss I guess, just disappointed.

Thanks Everyone!

I believe not all the coupons in the book expire the first of Nov. Some of the car rental coupons are good thru Dec 31. I don't have a book here at work to check for sure.

If you register the book online, you will have the ability to print some coupons off the Entertainment website. These are good for only 14 days after you print them (and I think you can only print each one once... not sure). Anyway, perhaps if you print some out just before Nov 1, they may still be good thru your trip? Don't know but it's worth looking into. Anyone know??

Can you print them just from registering your book online (which I did) or do you have to purchase the online package instead of or in addition to the book? Anyone know?

Hi SRUAlmn,

No, I did not purchase anything beyond the book (which I did order thru the Entertainment website for $10 plus $5 shipping). It then asked if I wanted to register the book, which I did. I changed my 'location' to Orlando (er, actually I even did Kissimmee) and it showed me some of the deals in the area. Click on any deal listed and see the 'How can I get this discount?' section on the right side of the page... most listings say 'this discount is located in your Entertainment Book'. Others like 'Bella Roma' will say 'Print the Coupon. Remember, you must use your coupon within 14 days. DISCOUNT CAN BE USED: 1 per year'.

It seems to be hit or miss with trying to find the printable coupons... wonder if there is a compilation somewhere on this site? Now that would be helpful! Anybody know?? I haven't printed any out yet, I will wait until a few days before I leave.

Anyway, I don't know if the printable coupons will also expire Nov 1, for your sake, hopefully not! But there may not be that many offers that you want to use... you may want to still buy next years' edition when it comes out.

Hope this helps... Let me know if you need any more help getting to that print screen. :wave2:

If you call them they will mail you a postage paid sticker to return the book. I ordered too many last year & they took they back no problem & was credited promptly.

Problem Solved! With the new codes we have decided that we would like to try going the last week of September because every time I have gone it has been December and I have NEVER EVER been to the water parks. Now I can try them out AND use my Entertainment Book coupons- can I get a WOO HOO? Thanks everyone so much! I feel like I have so many 'friends' ;) :)

You've all intrigued me.

Why are the EB's such a hit? Is it mostly hotel discounts? How do you know how you'll benefit from the book? Can you sneak peek it somehow?

Thanks for any help.

I purchased the EB for the car rental coupons and the Entertainment Card discount at the Loews hotels (all 3 Universal hotels are run by Loews).

However, there are some good discounts on dining and entertainment in the book as well.

T preview what is in the book, go to entertainment.com .

Click on the Buy a Book link at the top right of the homepage.

On the next page, scroll down to the Florida books and locate Orlando (2004). Click on the View It link.

From there, you will be able to browse the contents of the book.

I use also of their coupons for fast food but did find one for Mavis Tire last week & saved $48.00 on some new brakes/rotors and I didn't present the coupons till I received the bill.

Most restaurants will accept coupons even after they are expired. Just don't bring it to their attention. If they notice and ask, just say "I'm sorry, I didn't realize it expired" 4 out of 5 times they will accept it. I know that every restaurant I have worked at we were told to accept expired coupons.
