I don't know about the full line up, but last year Chubby Checker was there when I went. That was a real blast from the past.

Had a great time watching his show.

I know for sure that the Commodores, Beach Boys and Chubby Checker have been there in the past, not sure about the others. Thanks for posting this! Do you know if this is the final lineup?

Gtrist4 life I'm not clear on what you mean by "these type of artists". There's a variety of different types from what I can see. If you mean were there always rock/pop type acts the answer is yes. Never saw a symphony or opera at eat to the beat. :goodvibes

Kool & The Gang?!?! I am SO there. Saw them a few years ago when California Adventure did a similar type series and they were pretty awesome.

idratherbeinwdw,

Just wondered because the last time we were at the F&W was in 1996 and I don't remember popular music acts being there. They could've been, I just can't remember. I seem to link pop acts with the Flower Power series at the Flower and Garden festival.
F&W and good tunes works for me too.

Peace,
G4L

Aha gotcha! Now you made me go and figure this out, since I know the music's been there the past two years and I couldn't remember before that. Too many of my brain cells died in the '70s I think. :teeth: Turns out that the Eat to the Beat concerts didn't begin until 2002. From allears.net, 2002 F&W festival page:

New Concert Series, Diverse Performances Add Pizzazz To 7th Epcot International Food and Wine Festival Oct. 19-Nov. 17

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Food, wine and music fans can “Eat to the Beat” of a new concert series and enjoy an entertainment bonanza by performers of many cultures at the seventh annual Epcot International Food and Wine Festival Oct. 19-Nov. 17 at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Name entertainers booked for the “Eat to the Beat!” concert series will perform three half-hour concerts daily on the America Gardens stage:

Oct. 19-23 - Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards
Oct. 24-28 - Mary Wilson of the Supremes
Oct. 29-Nov. 2 - Sister Sledge
Nov. 3-7 - Little Anthony and the Imperials
Nov. 8-12 - The Fifth Dimension
Nov. 13-17 - Chubby Checker

So there you have it! Hope you have a great time if you're going this year, and if it's the beginning of October and you see a nutty looking woman with a Lime mickey head home depot paint thingy hanging from her fanny pack, wearing a blue DVC visor, dancing like a fool while watching Off Kilter perform, come and say hello!

If I were to be there, I'd surely say hello. But we'll be in Disneyland this October. I do plan on getting back to the F&W, maybe next year. Have fun!

Thanks and you have a great time at DL! I was only there once a few years ago, it was really special to be in "Walt's" park.

Last year I heard Kool and the Gang at F&W while enjoying my chocolate from Italy -- talk about divine ..

DD and I saw Eddie Money last year. His show was great! This year I'll be there with DH and we'll be seeing Arturo Sandoval - I have no idea who he is.

Thanks for the info. I don't know much (anything) about Kansas, but I'm sure we'll try one concert at least when we're there.

I'll be there for Kansas as well. They do a couple of songs that were played on the radio frequently, that you may know--Dust in the Wind & Carry on My Wayward Son.:rockband:

We saw Starship last year. They were great! Even my DD 14 enjoyed it. We tried to see the Beach Boys, but the line was all the way to the African Outpost. I heard they weren't worth the trouble.

A number of years ago, I lived in Buffalo, where they have a minor league base ball team, the Bisons (which used to be the farm team for Pittsburgh. Not sure about that any more, though.). Anyway, every year, the Bisons would offer a double header with an intermission concert. And every year, without fail, the Beach Boys played at said intermission concert.

Even though we had season tickets over the third base line, it got to the point that I wouldn't go to the darned double header. Why? The Beach Boys. IMO, there were few things as weird or as pathetic as watching a bunch of post-sixty-year-old men try to sing in falsetto voices :scared: and prance around in testosterone-injected fashion :dancer: with buxom, long-haired blonde and brunette twenty year-olds who hang all over them :love1: and pretend to be attracted to them. Ick! :crazy2:

At least, that's the way it was at the ball games. It may have been different at WDW!!!

Thank you idratherbeinwdw! I had gone to Kansas' web site, and nothing registered, but when I put in to listen to Dust in the Wind, ahhh, I remember, and I like!!

We've seen Kool and the Gang, Peter Noon and Herman's Hermits, and the Turtles during various F+W Festivals- cant remember which years- The Best concert we ever saw was Shock Wave (Blast) at America Gardens Theater.
