Hey all...going to DW in Sept and noticed that Enterprise prices are WAAAAAAYYYY lower than competitors? Any clue? Are they no good in Orlando...I would like to book a full size for less than 300 (Oh yeah), but it seems a little too riskY? Anybody have any opinions on Enterprise? thanks

Enterprise isn't risky; it is actually the largest volume rental agency in the US. Their primary business is in linsurance-paid loaners for folks who are having vehicles repaired; rentals for travelers are very much a secondary market for them.

The most important thing to be aware of with Enterprise is that their rental offers do not always include unlimited mileage. When that is the case, the base rate will appear to be very low, but the per-mile charges can add up VERY quickly.

Definately check to see whether you have unlimited mileage. I almost missed that on a one way rental! Also, if you plan to do a lot of driving, you might get a car that isn't in the greatest shape . . . we had one that kept having idiot lights illuminate. Not a problem if just around the "World" but if it's a road trip . . .

Enterprise sucks!

I rented from them once and will never rent from them again. I received a crappy car with high mileage and half a tank of gas. The customer service was awful and by policy they ask you if you want insurance 3 times (and you sign to decline each time). The idiot helping lied to me and tried telling me my credit card would not cover an accident. (My credit card most certainly would cover it) I guess they think they can push around and lie to inexperienced travelers and they will be none the wiser.

Oh wow..I'm really glad I didnt reserve it then... I heard that their cars were a little out of date..is this true? which company is better than?

Bad choice! Go back and reserve it and if you find something better cancel the reservation. A bird in the hand and all that ...

Also ... every single car company has it's share of unhappy customers. If you go with the word on one person (even if it is true) you will not rent a car anywhere.

I have no big problems with Enterprise. They often are cheaper than competitors, and that "we'll pick you up" feature can be a nice one.

Like other posters have said, check out whether unlimited mileage is included before signing anything.

Their cars aren't the greatest. Every time I rent from them, it seems I get a Ford Taurus, which is about my least favorite car on the planet. But it gets me from a to b and that's all I really care about in a rental.

I couldn't agree more. Not only are their cars in poor condition they do lie to customers. I had issues at MCO, Cape Canaveral, and at home in Bethesda, MD with them requiring a credit card to keep on file and place a hold of $100. All three places I was told they would not charge the card and they did in all three places. It took me weeks to get the charges reversed.

Funny this came up as I just signed on to tell everyone that Enterprise's rates had dropped for early Sept. I booked anyway because I got an intermediate with unlimited miles for 7 days for $161.44 Total:thumbsup2 I really want to rent with Alamo or National at the Dolphin, but the lowest rate I'm getting there is $285. I'll take a beat up car for that difference in price. BTW, when DS had his car totaled last summer the Enterprise rental was a brand new Toyota Corolla with 28 miles on it.

I'm renting a minivan for 10 days next month and surprisingly the company with the best rates is Hertz--with AAA discounts it's $350 less than Enterprise.

This post scared me silly, so I called enterprise to check on our reservation for our upcoming Ft Lauderdale/WDW trip.

We got a minivan (6 ppl) from Ft Lauderdale, from Friday night thru Monday night to drop off at WDW car care center, for at least $90 less than all the other major rental chains. I called to check on mileage and the man I spoke to looked up my reservation and told me I had unlimited miles within the state of Florida for the price I booked at. Before booking through Disney I did my research thinking for sure I could get a lower price with my AAA or some other offer. Nope...... enterprise was the lowest.

I have rented from them in the past and only ever had a problem waaaaay back when because I didn't have an actual CC and they required a $250 hold on my debit card in addition to the rental amount. That was over 8 years ago though.

How old is the average car there? I get a bit worried b/c this is the first time we would rent at Enterprise and i dont know the quality of the vehicle and its a bit overwhelming hearing "its a crappy company" or "the cars are old and outdated". Last year we rented from Budget and had a great SUV...this year SUV prices are ridiculous, so we settle for an intermediate car, but we are both larger than life :) and would hate to feel sardine-esque... all your help and info is appreciated

I just booked a car through enterprise but still hoping for Alamo, Dollar or National coming out with lower prices. There is a 5% off coupon in the Entertainment book for a little savings. I booked the cheapest economy car for 11 days for $247 including taxes.

We rented from Enterprise last Nov and got a Ford Flex (they only came out that summer) so it couldn't be that old. The one we got from Cape Caneveral rental location was an 08. Can't remember whether it was a Jeep or Nissan or what? But it was newer. One thing I like about Enterprise is that more often than not, we have gotten at least one (and sometimes two) level upgrades at no add'l cost. I just had a rental from them here at home while I was having my Flex repaired (hit a deer :headache:) and I got a Nissan rogue (sp?) and it was newer 08 and was in great shape. Off of the top of my head I cannot think of any bad experiences I have had w/ Enterprise's rentals.

Interesting.... while I am not doubting you. We had nothing but Wonderful experiences w/ Enterprise here in MD and at both WDW (Marriott, I believe) and Cape Canaveral. Marriott office gave us a double upgrade for FREE! :cool1: They were very accomodating. As a matter of fact, I don't think they could have been any more accomodating.

Well I, personally, have never (and I've rented from them over 10 times now) had a car that is more than a year to year and a half old. All of the ones I have gotten have had under 20K on them. Can't speak for others' experiences, but I highly recommend them. :thumbsup2

At MCO we had two mini vans that the oil lights were on when we got them (same day) and the representative had to get a manager before they could or would give us another vehicle resulting in us being there for over two hours. At Cape Canaveral they charged our credit card when they said they would not and the vehicle had trash inside that we emptied before heading back to MCO. The worst situation was in Bethesda. I had my car in for body work due to hitting a deer. They gave me a Chevrolet Impala that had 70,000 miles, water damage to the entire interior of the vehicle, the sun visor was missing on the passenger side, and the transmission slipped. I complained and was told it was the only vehicle they had. I had to get home so I took it and returned the next day to attempt to get another vehicle. No luck. I had the same beat up vehicle for two weeks. Thank goodness I have a company vehicle to get back and forth to work. The kicker is when I returned the vehicle the rep had the nerve to ask if the damage occured while I had the car. Thank goodness I had them document everything on my rental agreement.

I will stick to Hertz. I now know why my company cancelled their contract with Enterprise and kept Hertz, Alamo, and Budget.

Thanks for the FYI...I guess perhaps I should just book it...

Great rates on Enterprise it seems, but I'm guessing you have to pay for an additional driver correct? DH and I usually share the driving depending if one of us wants to go to a park, and the other stays back.

Just curious as I haven't even looked at Enterprise since we always have two drivers.

With enterprise, you only have to pay the add'l driver fee if the add'l driver is someone other than your spouse and/or domestic ptr

I was reading the first post about how cheap Enterprise was so I decided to go and check out the rates. I am going to Disney Sept 24-Oct 2 and already have a car booked through Alamo ( Midsize $311.64). Enterprise showed me a rate of $223.36 for a Full Size. I called them to make sure there weren't any hidden fees and that it included unlimited milage. There weren't any hidden fees and it does include unlimited milage like Alamo. So now I am going to cancell Alamo and keep Enterprise. My husband used to work for Enterprise so we always rented with them because of his discount, but we didn't really like that they were off site. They told me on the phone, that they are now onsite in terminal A&B. I guess its a good thing that I am always on these boards looking for the best deal!!! :)
