enterprise too cheap????

With enterprise, you only have to pay the add'l driver fee if the add'l driver is someone other than your spouse and/or domestic ptr

Thanks for this...just checked out the site and went to a full size and still saved over a midsize at National at the CCC (about 30.00) and MCO Alamo ($70.00)

Thanks for the info on Enterprise. I just checked their rate through Costco and saved $50 over the Dollar rate I had. Got an economy car for 8 days for a total of $167.

We typically use Alamo but their rates are ridiculously high this year and I hate their high pressure agents - I have only had this problem in Orlando. They see a woman traveling and think they can scare me into taking all kinds of extra insurance. It was completely ridiculous last year....telling me my personal auto insurance was no good in Florida and that I really needed to take the "storm insurance" because a hurricane was swirling way out in the Atlantic. I got sick of hearing myself say "NO" to the agent!

I finally bit the bullet and booked at full size at enterprise which reduced my rate from 336 (avis) to 246 (enterprise)... I hope I wont regret it

Great rates on Enterprise it seems, but I'm guessing you have to pay for an additional driver correct? DH and I usually share the driving depending if one of us wants to go to a park, and the other stays back.

Just curious as I haven't even looked at Enterprise since we always have two drivers.

At MCO we had two mini vans that the oil lights were on when we got them (same day) and the representative had to get a manager before they could or would give us another vehicle resulting in us being there for over two hours. At Cape Canaveral they charged our credit card when they said they would not and the vehicle had trash inside that we emptied before heading back to MCO. The worst situation was in Bethesda. I had my car in for body work due to hitting a deer. They gave me a Chevrolet Impala that had 70,000 miles, water damage to the entire interior of the vehicle, the sun visor was missing on the passenger side, and the transmission slipped. I complained and was told it was the only vehicle they had. I had to get home so I took it and returned the next day to attempt to get another vehicle. No luck. I had the same beat up vehicle for two weeks. Thank goodness I have a company vehicle to get back and forth to work. The kicker is when I returned the vehicle the rep had the nerve to ask if the damage occured while I had the car. Thank goodness I had them document everything on my rental agreement.

I will stick to Hertz. I now know why my company cancelled their contract with Enterprise and kept Hertz, Alamo, and Budget.
Wow!! I am very sorry to hear that you had such awful problems with them. :(
They didn't have a vehicle that worked for us at Cape C, so they checked the system and found one that did at another office about 15 min away. They drove DH over to that office to see if it would work and brought it back to Cape C to complete the paperwork. In my experiences, they have been very accomodating. It did take a little extra time at Cape C, but it worked out alright in the end. We weren't on a tight time schedule from there as we were going back to WDW and not worried about catching a flight.
Re the Bethesda incident, I think I would have stood my ground (not saying you didn't or anything) and demanded another car (from another office) or rescheduled my repair for when they had something more acceptable to drive. There was no reason for them to give you such a piece of junk, esp for 2 weeks.
With those experiences, I completely understand why you would choose not to return to enterprise.

I just rented from Enterprise myself. I have never rented a car before as we normally drive on vacation. However, this trip DD and I are flying. I had planned to use Disney Transportation, but at only $152 for the whole week, I went ahead a rented us a car.

hmmmmm..... I have rented from Enterprise many many times (20+). Their rates are usually competitive and I actually like that they take the time to show me the car if I want. They do try to sell the coverage, but they don't get commission on it like other rental companies do. So, once I say no, they are usually good! I have never gotten a car more than one model year old or with more than 30,000 miles, usually 5,000-15,000 miles. So, I think it really depends. All companies have their fans and foes, if you got a great rate, I'd take it and see for yourself!

WOW AI just looked at Enterprise...the prices have gone BACK UP to 300+ for rentals... Kudos to all those who got a cheap price for searching on theDIS

They were back down earlier today...my rate actually dropped from the good deal I got the other day.

Just checked rates. We reserved an 8 day economy car rental for $167 just a few days ago. Today the rate is $284 for the same thing. Ridiculous!

YEah I noticed that...almost like its fluxuating ... one day low, one day high... Well as they say "Carpe Car Price":rotfl:

I don't rent in Orlando frequently enough to have an opinion about which company is best there, although I will say my most recent experience with Avis at MCO was miserable!

But in a location I do rent from a lot, Enterprise is my absolute favorite company to use. Yes, I have to verbally decline extra insurance coverage, but I've never felt pressured to buy it, and I've never been given an old or poor condition car.

Go Figure. :confused3

Congrats to everyone who has been able to snag a good rental rate. It seems there have been some wild price fluctuations this year, but with the overall trend being up, up, up.

I just cancelled amazingly low priced airline tickets and drove 300 miles instead. Why? Because I couldn't find a decent deal on a rental car. Crazy!

What was your experience with Avis... I had a ressie there first, but the low low price at Enterprise enticed me to change

I guess it wasn't really a huge deal, but it was late at night, we had been traveling all day, and I was tired!

I signed up for the rental using my wizard # so I could bypass lines in the terminal. Good call, as there was a long line at the Avis counter. I headed to the garage, where only 2-3 people were ahead of me. But I was informed that even though all my paperwork showed that it was a wizard rental, and I had confirmed this via phone, I needed to go to the counter in the airport. So I trekked back over, waited in line for 45+ minutes, and when it was finally my turn, the guy there told me I should have gone straight to the garage.
:confused3

That same trip Avis didn't have the type of car I had reserved in Cape Canaveral. Could happen with any company of course, but it was a pain.
