We're planning to rent a van for our upcoming trip. We have never done so, looking for advise or info we may not know about.

We were quoted for $535 for 10 days
$200 deposit that we get back on return-anyone know what reasons the deposit would't be returned, or any nonsense "fees" that are deducted?

Roadside assistance-how much usually and what is covered?

We just want to make sure we are fully informed and know what to expect.

Thanks!

i like enterprise in Fl and beyond. Wish they were cheaper, but the service is fie. Have not rented a van yet.

I have booked with many car rental companies and have never been charged a deposit. Not sure why they are asking for one. Most places when you look get a quote for a rental you will eventually get the full price including fees.

I'm sure you can buy coverage for roadside assistance but why? Does Enterprise offer it? If so, it's probably listed on their web site. You can buy all sorts of various insurance coverage from them but you generally don't need them.

I've rented from Enterprise many times around the country when I traveled on business and I was always well taken care of. In fact, many times I was given a free upgrade.

Enterprise is always my first choice.

I've only used Enterprise up here in CT - mainly because they tend to have the best rates in my town when I've needed a car. I've never heard of the $200 deposit - unless they mean the reserve hold they put on my credit card. That gets cancelled immediately when I return the car and the paperwork processed. Never taken more than 24hrs (a banking day) for the hold to clear.

Overall I've been happy using Enterprise and will continue to do so locally. I just priced out a trip comparable to my Nov 2017 trip however, and they were almost $220 higher than ALL of the others I looked at for the same economy car. So it pays to be a shopper.

Usually a "deposit" is associated with renting using a debit card, or underage driver, or driving out of state.
You mention renting a van, if it's one of the big 15 passenger jobs, they can charge a deposit and quite often require that you take their CDW/LDW.

Enterprise is the parent company for National and Alamo and we have personally never had an issue with any of the 3 companies.

As far as roadside assistance goes, it's going to cost $5/day. If you really think you need it for that 10 day rental, I'd take that $50 and put it toward a AAA membership. You'll get a whole years coverage for yourself and anything that you drive plus all of the pluses and perks of having the AAA membership (ie: hotel, rental car, attraction and restaurant discounts etc)
