Do the gates into DCA from the Grand Californian open at the same time as the main gates and would using these gates be a good strategy for getting to the WOC fastpasses faster?
Yes and yes.Do the gates into DCA from the Grand Californian open at the same time as the main gates and would using these gates be a good strategy for getting to the WOC fastpasses faster?

Yes...but only if you're staying at a Disney hotel. I imagine they'll get much more strict about that with all of the WoC chaos.
They've been enforcing that more recently, especially early in the day.
If you're not staying in one of the Disney hotels, your first "entry" of the day has to be through the main turnstiles.
\the entrance to DCA from GCH hotel is ok for Ap's to go through and i am sure other ticketed guests.. have never had a problem, never been stopped! maybe for non hotel and ticket guests have to go through turnstiles, but i have gotten through with my pass as my first entry...![]()
I've never tried it early in the day, but I know AP holders that have and been turned away. Selective enforcement maybe.
, i think that maybe just regular day ticket holders can't use the DCA/GCH entrance till they have gone through the front enterance,as said above...
So, there is a possibility of being able to get through if you are staying offsite? We are at the Anabella, and I have heard that is a quicker way into the park. Can you exit that way? Say, after WOC? If we have been in DL in the AM, and coming into DCA for afternoon, is it likely to work?
. BUT apparantly i was wrong with going through that way, so don't take my work for it!
plus if its during WOC, it may be different! but i can;t imagine that they would "close" that entrance down . i mean how would the hotel guests get back to there rooms? No, not a pass holder, just on 5 day park hopper. Is it only for pass holders? I wasn't sure who was allowed or not through it.
Exit that way is no problem. Entering early morning is. Later in the day not so much. So, there is a possibility of being able to get through if you are staying offsite? SeeI vaguely remember reading somewhere, although I don't know where, that there will be a special WoC fastpass line at the gates in the morning. . but maybe that was opening day only. . . .

Hmmm... we have generally been asked for a room key when using this entrance at opening. At other times, they haven't worried.
I did note this particularly around the opening of TSM...so I think it is reasonable to expect that they will check keys with WOC starting.
Also, if the Al Lutz suggestions about Hotel users getting a special WOC FP queue turn out to be accurate, I think you will have no chance of entering there as a non hotel guest, regardless of ticket type.
But we'll know in a few days![]()
how cool is that!
