I hope they get the maximum on both fines and prison terms. A lot of people lost their retirement over this. Also, the whole Sarbanes-Oxley legislation that resulted made it a lot more costly and complicated for honest businesses in the US to conduct their daily business. It sucks that we have to legislate honesty into business...

Yes. I'm so glad this didn't go the other way.

Though I gotta say that SOX has been good for the careers of a lot of my I.T. colleagues.

I have to say I'm a little surprised, though. It sounded like initially, the prosecution wasn't scoring too many blows, lacking much direct evidence outside of other's testimony.

I am pleased with the results of the trial.

But it would have thrilled me to prevent most of the harm in the first place. I wish our local officials could have been more effective seeking relief when we knew we were being ripped off.

This does show that the system works. While most corporate leaders are honest and hard-working, those that deliberately mislead are tried, convicted and punished. And Sarbanes-Oxley will keep even more of those that would otherwise choose to "work the system" in line, assuming that SOx isn't overturned...
