Enough with all the abbreviations!

LOL--it took me the longest time to figure out what TTFN meant!
Ha Ha! You would sign your name to me with
TTYL.
I sat there and sat there wondering what it was. :scratchin
Finally................bingo:idea:
"Talk to you later!" :goodvibes

Right?

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

To make it easier for next time...

Maybe HydroGuy can add EWATA to the list of abbreviations. ;)

EWATA = 'Enough With All The Abbreviations.' :earsboy:

So THATS what ToT means...lol... All this time I was confused, because I kept thinking it was tower of terror...lol....

I admit that the abbreviations were a little confusing at first but part of the fun is learning them and figuring out what everyone is saying. Just go over HydroGuy's list of abbreviations once and you'd be surprised how fast they stick, especially if you go on the forums on a pretty regular basis like me :rotfl:

Hey, I didn't invent them. I just documented them! :goodvibes (after I figured them all out ;)).

I remember when I started on here, I printed out a list of the abbreviations and had it next to the keyboard to refer to. I think it was there maybe a week before I knew what they all were.

Hang in there!:thumbsup2

I know most now too and use them but every once in a while I come across one I can't figure out. Like BLAB. I was going throug rides in my head and I just couldn't guess what it was. :confused3 It turned out to be Buzz Lightyear Asro Blasters. We always just call it Buzz. Actually it is the same amount of letters to type anyway, so I still just call it that. :rotfl: But typing out the names all each Disney hotel and park takes too long.

BTMR always used to confuse me. I just call it Thunder Mt. Sometimes the "official" ride name is confusing because most of us use the typical names. I say Pirates or Pooh not POTC or MAOWTP sheesh

I get confused with some of the abbreviations, too. Personally, I try to spell out something before I start using abbreviations, and then will use them. When I can't figure something out I just ask. People here are so nice and someone soon comes to the rescue. lol

I use to think that D this or that, ex. DH, meant Disney husband, instead of dear husband. Fortunately it did not take me that long to realize the error of my ways. ;)

Well, you know, depending upon the circumstance and my frame of mind, the "D" in Dh can mean anything from "Dear" to,well...ah hem..."Darn".

Thank goodness I started my message board days on non-Disney sites, so I was very used to the D stuff. Though then it was DF for "dear fiance/e", so sometimes when I see DF for "dear friend" I get confused...

You know what took me a LONG time, and it's not disney-related, but abbreviation-related? STBX H or W. Starbucks husband/wife? What? No no...Soon To Be Ex....that stumped me for ages.

While DL and DCA are known by most everyone, using abbreviations for each attraction/area can be a big mystery to a lot of people. Can posters please spell out at least once per post, to help unknowing people out? Thanks!! :thumbsup2

LOL I enjoy the challenge of 'breaking the code' of abbreviations

Actually, I like that better. My Disney Husband. Guess you would have to use NDH for Non Disney Husband. As in: "Yeah, I had to drag my NDH to DLR and talked him into staying at CGH instead of DLH." :rotfl:

Until this very moment, I thought that the D definitely meant Disney...I never questioned it. I can't imagine ever reading it differently, so in my little world, I think I will just keep it.

I have not been posting long, but was a long-time lurker, and I have always found it fun to try to figure out the abbreviations. I find that I can recognize most of them now, although I don't know if could use them correctly off the top of my head when posting. I am sure that someone will gently point out my error, should I slip up! :goodvibes

They are kind of standard issue on message boards. And naturally since this board is about Disneyland our abbreviations will be about Disneyland. They are easy to pick up on and like others have stated...if in doubt find out! Just ask :) We dont mind!
