I agree. But I must say... It has inspired me to write out my Living Will, along with my husband, and have it witnessed and notarized. If not, I wouldn't have done so. Something good HAS come out of it for me, even though like you I am tired of seeing it here and everywhere I go. It's very, very sad
I don't know, it seems that the media is fueled by the same energy that has swept through the Dis re. this topic. I ignored the media, but finally opened up a thread here today and it was all over but the shouting. I couldn't stop myself from posting my thoughts and feelings because it is such a visceral subject. We can all relate to so many of the charactors of this sad drama.
Good idea Hound. I believe that a thousand response thread is more than enough debate on any given subject.
I believe that both sides (i.e. Michael Schiavo and the Schindler family) need to cut out their over-the-top rhetoric: murderer, barbaric, thuggery, hellfire and damnation, etc. and treat the other side with more respect. I believe that the Schindlers would be better served to let their daughter go and work on changing the law if they want the blood family of other patients to have more say in these life or death decisions.
Yes, there is good that comes out of this case. It has made more Americans get their last directives in writing, and has perhaps motivated more people to study the U.S. Constitution and be aware of what it actually says.
