Other than viewing Osborne's last Nov and SpectroMagic years ago we haven't done an evening at any park for the purpose of rides since E-Ticket Nights in the early 2000s. With 10 park days this Oct. we're game. We'd appreciate any advice concerning the best rides in each park after dark and tips for navigating waiting lines late in the day.

Thanks,

Thunder Mountain Railroad is great at night, especially when the fireworks are going off. It's often a short wait at that time.

Everest after dark is also great when AK is open that late. Use single rider is the line is long.

I second the BTMR! It's amazing during Wishes! Peter Pan line goes down significantly during that time too. Haunted Mansion is also great to ride at night, adds to the spooky effect!
But hands down my all-time favorite to ride at night is Tower of Terror! It is so cool when they bring you to the top to see the park all lit up at night

First let's just get this out of the way....WE ARE!!

Here are our favorite things at night at the various parks:

MK:
BTMRR, Astro Orbiter, Celebrate the Magic (castle projection show right before Wishes)

AK:
There will be lots of new things this October at night, so we're looking forward to the Safari at night as well as whatever show is running at that point, Everest at night is great as well!

HS:
Fantasmic! and Tower of Terror is cool at night too. The new Star Wars fireworks are supposed to be really great, but we haven't experienced those yet.

EP:
Illuminations, we've ridden Test Track at night, but it's not really much different than during the day to me

For MK, I love the Peoplemover at night. I enjoy the birds eye view of Tomorrowland all lit up. I also like Splash at night...nice view and you are going slow enough to enjoy it. Waits for these two at night aren't usually too bad. Especially Splash if it's fall or winter, because lots of people don't want to risk getting wet if it's dark and the least bit cool out. For HS, I agree with a previous poster that Tower of Terror is great at night. I've never been in AK after dark and Epcot rides are all indoors, other than the high speed part of Test Track, so nothing really stands out there for nighttime riding.

I just love the feel of late nights in MK. We stay until close and you can get so much done if the hours extend to 11/12/1. There's something about walking around Tomorrowland in the dark. I second the peoplemover, also love BTMRR and Splash at night. Dumbo is good at night as well. Our favorite ride "transformation" from the daytime version to nighttime is the Jungle Cruise. It's just more fun at night and can be a little spooky.

I find any ride with at least part of it outdoors to be better at night.

By this oct, all the parks have a variety of evening entertainment, parade, night show, projection shows (including AK). It's going to be a fun time, most of them had construction to make them happen. I'm really looking forward to trying some of the AK rides at night plus all the new stuff coming soon:)

Unfortunately, if you are there this October, it looks like BTMRR will be down for refurbishment:

Big Thunder Mountain closed 8/8/2016- 11/18/2016 - from the DIS "Rehabs and closures" page....... :(

However, I would second a previous poster's suggestion for the People Mover!

This last week, we rode 7DMT, Dumbo, Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain during the fireworks on four different nights. It was so beautiful!

At AK, Everest is fun when it's dark. It's weirdly scarier when it's dark and you're flying backwards ;)

At DHS, ToT is a lot of fun at night too.

Now they're telling us that the rides will all be shut down for July at 10 when the park closes and wishes begins. Sorry about big thunder then.

Pretty much all of MK is fantastic after dark. Totally different feel than daytime. The side walkways are always quiet during fireworks, especially by Pirates. Ride selection about the same as others. We love BTMRR and Splash during electric parade as there will be no wait. Last year we rode BTMRR 6 times in a row. This year we did Jungle Cruise at night. I'm not a big fan of that ride but a nightime ride is a little scary. Also thumbs up for the people mover during Wishes. My DH loves to walk around MK saying I love this place at night!

Thanks for all the great ideas! Splash Mtn was the last night ride we ever did, probably in 2001 or earlier and we like People Mover anyway and a night ride sounds appealing.

On this past trip we tried the new strategy of getting out of the parks mid day for r&r then going back at night. Cooler and much more relaxed. All the before mentioned are great suggestions and to be honest I just like the parks better at night.

Hopefully you'll get to see all the new night activities at AK!
