When we lived in Maine, we were the ones that always hosted a big 4th of July BBQ/pool party for family members. We also always attended the town festivities (parade, fireworks).
This 4th of July is probably the quietest one I've ever had. And, you know what? I'm kind of enjoying it!

It is just my husband and me hanging around the house today. We moved last week, so we're still in the recovery process from that.

It's much too hot to do anything outside, at least during the daylight hours. I'm thinking Boston Pizza down the street for lunch, then home with the Sunday paper.
Anyway, we did our "partying" last night at an outdoor event that was held at a local casino. We enjoyed watching and listening to a Jimmy Buffett tribute band, the Parrotheads, while eating cheeseburgers and chips. The band was excellent! We also got free t-shirts, mini fans, lighted leis, and ice cream.

There were fireworks after the performance. Then, since it was so crowded with everyone trying to leave at the same time, we decided to wait it out in the casino.
Our kids are gone with plans of their own this weekend, and we received several texts from them earlier in the day yesterday asking what we were doing for the weekend. When I texted our older daughter about our plans to go to the beach party casino event, she texted back, "You go, guys! Just don't get too wild."
