Enjoyed Saratoga Springs!!!

If I'm not mistaken wasn't the theme supposed to be of Saratoga Springs, NY from the past? Not necessarily the modern day Saratoga. I thought I had read that somewhere. Could that possibly be the confusion regarding the anticipated theme?

ClarabelleCow,
We arrived in Orlando on Sunday (day of race) we flew over Daytona at about 8:00 PM and there were red tail lights for miles down the highway. It was quite a sight from the air. The bright white speedway all lit up and the lines and lines of red tail lights! It reminded me so much of the early days when we went to Dover and would sit for hours on end waiting to get back to our hotel! I'm so glad you had a great trip! Wow, SSR, Daytona and Cruise! What a trip! Would you believe DS came down with strep throat while we were in WDW too. It must really have been going around!

How long did it take to get to Daytona Speedway from your WDW resort and how long back? We are going in October with friends who want to visit Daytona.

No there is no confusion. I realize that it is based on turn of the century Saratoga. If they really want to be correct, Saratoga of that era was founded on Maffia money. Gambling, casino and horse racing were the driving force behind this town. Mafia and other wealthy New Yorkers spent their summers here. Believe me the theming isn't accurate. DVC Resorts all look Disneyish to me. Theming aside I don't think the place is a winner. Saratoga was a bad choice anyway. After all this is a small August based tourist town of 25,000.

Hi, I just had to add this. These posts seem very positive towards SSR. I suspect this has to do with the political correctness of these boards. I can say without the slightest hesitation that I did not meet anyone when staying at SSR that liked that resort. Believe me I spent countless hours in that hot tub overlooking Downtown Disney chatting with other guests. No one I met liked the place and we were all asking other peoples opinions to see if we were alone. Why all the glowing reviews on here? I think I've already answered that.

Everyone has their own opionions, and a right to them. I know for a fact not everyone dislikes SSR.
And anyone who goes will base their own feelings themselves, not on what others say.

I am glad there are people that DON'T like it. More room for me and mine when I choose to vacation. :cool1:

Hee hee hee - go back under the bridge, Troll-man. And no wonder you didn't have a good time - sitting around the hot tub at WDW, crying and moaning about how terrible your resort is; d00d, you know how to have a good time! :rotfl2:

PS At least take a moment and get your euphemisms right: "Political Correctness" would not apply in this situation. "Homer-ism", perhaps, but no PC. Yeesh - an uneducated Troll....

Personally, I wouldn't want an "accurate" resort based on Maffia influences. Doesn't sound like it would be too much fun to visit . . . a visit to the bottom of Saratoga "pond" could be a whole new attraction . . .

We wouldn't visit Walt Disney World resorts if the resorts weren't "Disneyish". I guess Disney isn't for everyone.

We are looking forward to our first stay "home" in December. I am anticipating that members will look at this property with the same fondness as OKW. Give it a chance.
