Engagement with Mickey

We did the Darth Vader meet and greet the other day and it had the auto camera. But the cast member posted in the room asked if we wanted him to take photos with our camera too. He took some great photos. Not suggesting the proposal be done with Darth Vader. 🤣 Just mentioning that the CM’s do seem to be helpful with the auto camera meet and greets in general.
Darth Vader proposal would be amazing tho. Lol

Has he considered a “capture your moment” session? That would give them a dedicated photographer for 20 minutes.
He really wanted to do it in a quiet place with Mickey. I am trying to help him out as he hasn't been since he was 8! Lol

I think I may tell them to hand their phone to the cm to take pics. Thanks for this!!!

Do they only go to certain locations?
They're open to requests, but won't take you to a character. They try hard to help you find spots that aren't overrun with people. And they usually have 2 people so one helps hold back other people. We have done a first appointment of the day twice and been really happy with the photos they took.

Are they only going to the MK? You might find a quieter spot with an actual Photopass photographer at Epcot or DHS.

Does anyone in the group have a Disney Visa? There's a separate meet and greet at Epcot just for cardholders and their group. The down side here is that Mickey and a friend swaps off with Minnie and a friend.

Her favorite park is MK, so he was going to try there. We do have a disney visa! I will look into that! Thanks.

When we met Mickey at MK at Town Square Theater in August, they were using the automatic photo box that took a picture every so many seconds. Really annoying.
Same for us - I didn’t like it :sad2:

If a quiet place with Mickey is more important than being in MK, I second the Visa idea at Epcot. That m&g is staffed by a photographer, the photos are free, and there is usually not a long line so there is less pressure to be quick and let the next people go. He would just need to ask the CM at the front which characters are meeting as it usually switches between Mickey + friend and Minnie + friend. If it’s only a few minutes til they switch and there are people waiting they can get in line hoping that they switch out before they grt to the front. It’s at the front of the park too so close to the monorail to parkhop to MK.

if his favorite park is MK cool. What about her's more importantly? Do something original. . . the castle thing is so. . . I don't know. I like to be off the beaten path.

can I tell a little story. . . when I proposed to my wife I didn't want to bring the ring through security for the Disney cruise we were leaving on the next day. so I just did it at my parents house with the ring in the WDCC Cindy coach signature piece which was a pain to actually get one that didn't break in shipping when it was released and had the WDCC Cindy cake topper waiting on the table when we went to dinner in our home town that night afterwards. that cake topper was hard hard hard to find! but our WDCC dealer was on the hunt for me. but when we got on the ship it was only a few months since our last visit and the amount of cast members that remembered us and commented on ring and us being engaged was pretty amazing. we were really taken back by it. chip and dale were pretty funny too they were fighting over her when the cast member told them we were engaged this trip. this was back when the cruise line first started. that cruise was amazing.

and for an engagement gift from me I found the 3rd of the original David willardson's "oh noooo!" which was actually from his personal collection. it's mickey with his hand on his head going "oh nooooo!" like I can't believe you went through with it. lol I laugh at it still walking down the steps in our house cause it's the first Disney painting you see when you walk I our house. lol

everything I tried to do for her I tried to tie it into our lives at that point. for those first few years every piece of art we bought I tried to tie it into something for that moment in our lives. 17 years later I just say "no gifts this year right? just buy what you want when you see something ok?" lol

sorry for the side track but it got me thinking about years gone by.

no matter what happens it will be awesome. . . but seriously. . . go off the beaten path.

Love this!!!! Thanks for sharing. I am so excited for them to start making these memories! 🥰

Has He considered doing it in front of the castle with a PP photographer?
We got to witness a proposal exactly there on one of our vacations. We had an early ADR to Crystal Palace and decided to get our photo taken as we were walking up an empty Main Street. There was no one else on the street except for the young couple with the photopass photographer. Just as the photographer was about to take the photo, the young man went down on one knee. It was a surprise to the young woman and she was overjoyed. The photographer went crazy taking photos... I'm sure they got at least 50 in that moment. :) It was awesome to witness.

I saw it happen once too so that's what made me think of it
