Hi, I'm not sure if there's already a thread on this, but we are still looking for the perfect engagement ring. We are considering Tanzanite, as we are both born in December and this is Decembers birthstone, but we've read that it's too soft to use in an engagement ring :(

So, I'm just wondering what kind of rings you all have? And if you have a photo of it would you mind posting it?

TIA :flower3:

This is my e-ring

I am not sure about tanzanite...this is the ring dbf and I recently fell in love with. He said he doesn't know what he will pick up out, but the other night he referred to it as MY ring, lol.

Ironically, I don't really like diamonds! I just wanted a ring that would match everything I wore...

This is mine. Its a 1.05 carat Emerald Cut diamond. I love the cut.

This is my ring. It is an aquamarine! I have known that I always wanted something different and I always planned to get married in March and have it as my stone because it is the stone for March.. Well I got it as my stone but I'm getting married in June. I guess thats just how things works out sometimes... Here is the pic of my e-ring and my wedding band!

Wow! you have some beautiful e-rings!! :lovestruc

Disneymagic2005 - Is the aquamarine quite a soft stone? Apparently the tanzanite I'm looking at is soft and I've been told it scratches easily... But I want something "different".

The thing is I've been engaged before (didn't work out!) and I had a very simple, beautiful diamond ring. I think secretly my partner wants me to have a different stone because I had a diamond last time... But looking at all these diamond rings, if tanzanite is a definite no then I'll get diamonds :rotfl:

Here is mine.

It's actually a part of a bridal set. FDH ordered it through Sam's Club and got a really good deal.

It doesn't seem to scratch easily. It has gotten a little foggy but once I cleaned it it was fine. I really love it because it's different and it is going to be my something blue on my wedding day. Also I went with the diamond wedding band to really make the blue in the ring POP!

If your concerned about it being a soft stone I would call a jewelry store and ask there opinion. They were very helpful with DF when he picked it out!

Good Luck!

It's just over half a carat, brilliant cut. And I looooove it!

Was waaay over our budget, but as soon as I tried it on my heart hurt and I just knew!! 2 Months on and I still admire it daily!

Here is mine - its art deco style (I thought I would have to trawl second hand shops to find something I loved and was surprised when we found something we loved that was "new")....

Mine is a vintage ring we found at an estate sale. I have a tanzanite ring and it seems fairly durable. I don't exactly wear it everyday though. Are you planning on adding a band to it after the wedding or is it just until then? You just might want to find a style that protects the stone more.

I love non-traditional stones. I wanted a subtle gemstone. Aquamarines are very pale blue and are hard enough to be an engagement ring. Here is my ring.

i didnt want the standard inlay diamonds and a solitaire. He surprised me with this ring which is two flowers on a bypass.. its not big on the diamond count but he said it suited me as im girlie with dainty hands and needed a dainty ring which i thought was sweet:)

I don't know how you ladies do it! I found it impossible to take a good pic of my ring! Here's one the Roots got of all of our rings at the reception. It was pretty funny...they came up and asked for our rings and then headed toward the door! I could imagine them getting dropped in Seven Seas Lagoon!!!
