I have an Engagement photo shoot scheduled with Randy in a few weeks. I'm so up in the air about getting my hair and makeup done for this as I want them to be natural and "us". Has anyone NOT had their hair and/or makeup done and regretted it??

Thanks for the help girls!

Just something to think about: A good cosmetologist can make you up in a way that DOES look natural and like the real you while preventing shine and frizz and all those other things it's nice not to have in photos. :thumbsup2

I can't help you there as I had my Hair done, but why I got my hair done was because I wanted really nice looking pictures and knew that I couldn't get my hair what I wanted it to look like, I did my own make up for the session and just had my hair professionaly done. We are using the pictures for many things so I didn't want my hair to have a bad day. Hope this helps!!!

But if you are able to do your own hair like you want it then go for it!!:thumbsup2

I didn't have my hair or make up done for our Engagement photos with Randy in May. To be honest unless I had an updo with lots of hairspray it would have been a waste. I wore a sundress and my DFi wore shorts and a nice shirt so I think an updo would have looked strange. We wanted natural photos and had them taken at the Poly. It was very hot and very windy so my hair was blowing all over. I think our pictures came out lovely. I am very happy with them. I think it is a personal preference and what you want. Randy is great you will love him. Good luck with the pictures and the wedding.

I had my make-up done but not my hair and I'm really glad I did. It was so hot that day that if I did it myself it would have all melted off. In the pictures I think I look really good but still natural. I think the fact that my hair is normal also helps with the natural look, but I've seen where girls got their hair done and it was just curled and not really too "done".

I would recomend at least getting your make up done professionally. While you want to look natural you will also want to look your best in the photos. I assume you are paying quite a bit for the photos and it would be awful to regret not having your make up accomplised. Florida can plan havoc on anyones make up and having professional digital photos can show up a lot we may not want to see :cutie:. A make up professional will be able to give you a natural look but using tips and tricks to ensure that your make up lasts and what works best for photographs. It also gives you a chance to work with someone you want to use for your wedding.

I don't know about your hair but keep in mind Florida can play havoc with hair too. Even though you don't want an updo simply having someone professionally blow dry and style you hair can make all the difference. No one in my wedding had an updo but their hair looked much better than being professionally styled than by the person on their own. My nieces hair lasted the next day to.

I would also like to add that in getting your hair and makeup done by a professional in Florida, they'll probably know better how to keep the Florida heat and humidity from melting your makeup and hair than you can manage on your own.

I have to figure out which makeup pros use airbrush because my skin is so bad I practically need spackle!

i was stressing about this. you do not NEED to have somebody else do your hair! or make up!! it's nice to have the skills of a professional used to the camera although i think having a professional photographer is worth half a pound of foundation anyday!! :)

that said, one reason to have one for the e pics is to help decide if you want and/or like the person you used for the wedding day. might help you make a decision there. we ended up doing e pics at the last minute and i booked beaute special. am going to use them for the wedding, and i feel like the make up was good, although i went in a more made up direction than i want to go for the wedding? so it was good in that it was a trial run and i got to see in pictures how it looked!

good luck!

I did not get either done. However, I did go to the Clinique counter and had someone work with my makeup to get a nice natural look beforehand. Since I am from Florida, I am used to the way my hair reacts in the heat, so I was at an advantage there. Either way, my pictures turned out just great, Randy was awesome. :)

Thanks for ALL of your responses! If I do get it done, it will be with Beaute Speciale b/c I can not see paying a $50 travel fee to anyone b/c, once again, I AM CHEAP (or maybe frugal??).

I am leaning on getting my makeup done b/c SIGH, I have a bit of Vitiligo (think Michael Jackson disease!) on my face and I want to make sure that its covered. (Why can't I just be normal!) Its not bad but if I get a suntan it can be noticeable.

Still not sure what to do about my hair. I am getting it cut/colored next week up here and I will ask my stylist about easy hair dos I can do myself.

I appreciate all the input. I just want to look nice but not pay a million dollars to do it!

I had my engagement pictures done in Miami (where it's just as hot as WDW lol) and I did my own hair and makeup. It was very hot outside but my makeup held up just fine (I wear Bare Essentuals). You really don't have to hire someone to do it for you if you feel comfortable doing it yourself.

For my hair I just threw it up in some velcro rollers after I blowdried it and took them out right before we started. It was perfect, close to the way I normally wear it but still a bit wavy/textured.

I'm deff. not planning on getting my hair or make-up done for my e-shoot with Randy, and I most likely won't be getting my hair or make-up done for my wedding or my MK/Epcot photo shoot either. However, I consider myself pretty good at doing hair and make-up. Depending on how good my hair turns out for my e-shoot, I may or may not end up having someone do it for the wedding. As far as make-up I just plan on buying some products that I normally wouldn't use to help with shine, etc. in the pictures. Then I will have them for other special occasions as well.

I didn't have my hair or make-up done for ours. I very rarely have my hair any other way then a ponytail and I rarely wear makeup so I didn't see the point. I did blow my hair dry and wear it down though :lmao: I regret it a bit because with all the fall colours in the background you can see my dark brown roots on my red hair terribly :rotfl2:

It all depends on how you feel most comfortable and your personal preferences.

I couldn't get my hair trial/photo shoot to coincide due to scheduling conflicts.

At first I was going to get my hair and make up done and get all dressed up, etc, but when that didn't pan out we went in a more casual direction.

I did my own hair and make up, granted, my hair never has any frizz and is very well behaved, plus I live in FL so I knew what to expect, to top things off we had our photo shoot at the very beginning of March, mostly because we didn't want to be hot/sweaty and didn't want chances of high humidity messing with us.

All in all, we ended up with amazing photos, they were candid, beautiful and we looked like we normally do when we go out on a casual date for dinner and a movie. We were also incredibly relaxed, comfortable and it showed.

If I were to do it again I wouldn't change a thing :thumbsup2
