How much do the security guards enforcement the no-food rule? I thought I have heard of them just sifting through bags and letting people go. I know we have brought in baby food without problems, but what if we brought in sandwich stuff for us? Is that really frowned upon? We are trying to keep this trip cheap ( :lmao: yeah, I know that is funny).

I've never been stopped from bringing my own food into the park. Even this last time when we had the dining plan I brought some of my own stuff. No one said a word.

My husband's coworker just got back from WDW last week. The rented a house. The wife packed sandwiches in a small soft sided cooler. No one said a thing.

The MK map we got in December specifically says that any food can be brought in as long as it isn't in glass containers. No alcohol either. So food is now officially allowed in the parks.

I don't think it's part of the job for the security guards to enforce that. They are searching bags for bombs and things. In fact, one of the security guards searched my little cooler with food and said "my mom used to bring food for us when we were little, too".

Awesome! :thumbsup2 Thanks everyone for the info. I couldn't remember the rule. We are staying in our DVC room and have planned and budgeted to be bringing our own food into the park. But I didn't want to have that surprise on me and my wallet when we got to the gate.

Again, thanks for all of the info.

Helpful hint....what ever you bring in, put it ziplock bags or clear plastic wrap!
A girl in front of us brought in about 8 sub sandwiches wrapped in aluminum foil and the guard made her unwrap each one so he could see what was inside!! Really held up the line :rotfl2:

This is great news to me also as I am planning to stay in a one bedroom place with a full kitchen. I would love to bring in snacks and a lunch for the family to save money and then go out for a nice dinner each day.

We took snacks and juice boxes in a backpack when we went and they didn't mind. Plan on doing the same on the next trip.

Don't they have a policy against large coolers as well? You know, the big honkin' ones with wheels... So, you could bring food, but not a four course meal packed in a huge cooler that you drag along behind you, LOL!

We always make PB foldover sandwiches and put them in a long skinny Tupperware container to eat as quick snacks when we need one. Its not as much about budget - although that is a huge plus, but we feel better without all the heavier meals. We like to eat a few nice sit-down meals, but frankly, eating too much heavy food makes the day a little less enjoyable for us. We prefer to "graze" on our snacks - it's probably a little more healthy, too!

We bring in sandwiches light snacks from our DVC room, never had a problem.
As posted saves a lot of time and much healther than having FF everday for a week. Helps the wallet, somehow with dinner, ice cream, popcorn and souviners I never get away cheap. :confused3

I prefer having control over what I eat - you know, so I don't consume 2000 calories in one Cosmic Ray's Double Bacon Cheeseburger. I've brought in lunch and snacks on my last two trips without incident. It avoids the guilt of overspending on a lackluster lunch and the guilt/remorse of eating an unhealthy lunch.

If you have small children they usually are easier on the no outside food rule. Heard one guard tell someone that they tend to let sealed pre packaged in, but some will not let you through with homemade things and such -like sandwiches.

when kids were little, about 7 yrs ago, never got stopped. now they are teens and only bring water bottles and maybe so crackers or so..........

I have never seen anyone get turned away for having food with them.

Where this predominantly happens is at as six flags park...

as is evident...Disney has class.....

Just returned tuesday and brought food into the parks each day. Never were we turned away from bringing stuff in. We even brought in small coolers to keep it cold.
