I've just had such a shock in the post. We pay £58 per month to Powergen for both elec and gas. The quarterly bill came last week and we are in debt to the sum of £110. OK, the payments over the summer months (if it ever happens and we can turn the heating down!) should reduce this, but this morning we had a letter telling us the monthly payments are going to increase to £88 to clear the debt and then they will reassess the payments. I wouldn't mind but when we've been in credit they don't offer to put the payments down. Is it just me?

We just had ours as well.....they have "upped" ours to £130 per month so that we can pay back our "debt" of £230!! We keep cutting back but the bills keep escalating. Maybe its about time for DW to put on an extra jumper over the winter period!

Don't worry about your bills - our gas bill, when it came a couple of weeks ago, was for just over £400 and the electricity was for nearly £300! We also pay by Direct Debit and they incresed the electricity but not the gas. We do have a large house, but even so!

You can ask at any time to be repaid for any srplus in your account - we've had a few hundred back at odd times.

Think I was just wanting to have a moan. DH pay is increased by a fiver a week, my doesn't increase until October but council tax, fuel bills everything is going up. Whatever happens I've got to keep saving for my hols! Had someone bump into our car last week while it was parked and didn't leave their name, got an estimate which came this morning £500+ so decided to go down the insurance route as we have no claims protected so it won't affect us found out £200 excess applies. It just keeps on running through our fingers. :surfweb:

:thumbsup2 This is exactly why we are switching from British Gas (dual fuel) to EDF they reckon that we could save us £140-£160 per year, which is better in our bank than BG's so once we've paid ous off wer're changing ours!!!I feel sorry for pensioners they don't all have extra income to afford extra on their fuel bills :sad2: :sad2:The whole price incease stinks :sad2:

Ours to. We pay £45 and it has now gone up to £73 until we have paid off the bill which is £95.It really bothers me when you have to fight to get your money back when they owe you. We are also with powergen but are looking to change as soon as possible. :furious:

With Scottish Hydro Electric for gas and electricity and had similar price hike :confused3
