Endless Summer Surfside vs Dockside

We are doing a split stay trip and have already decided on Royal Pacific, but for the first few days we wanted to stay a bit closer to I-Drive so we can have easier access to the restaurants and I-Drive attractions. Is there any difference between the two hotels. I know Dockside never really officially opened and it is much bigger, but other than that are there really any differences? If not I think we'll lean toward Surfside since it's smaller.

We have chosen Dockside for our trip next August. I know the two hotels are similar but we liked the theming at Dockside a little better and like that it is newer.

Resurrecting thread.
Looking at 1 night in June, Dockside slightly cheaper but negligible really. Any drawbacks to staying at Dockside vs Surfside. We stayed at Surfside in March, just 1 night, and were very pleased. Very glad to be the first bus stop. Anyone have any issues getting on early bus at Dockside, like for rope drop? Looking at suites in each
also considering CB. I really want to stay there, but would be a regular room, vs the suites here....decisions!!!
