Do you schedule your WDW vacations in order to return home and have a day in between your return and when you have to return to your job,or do you return from WDW on the day before you have to return to your job?It is really nice to have a day to "unwind" from a WDW vacation, but it is also hard to give up that potential extra day at WDW.Which way do you think is best? Thanks. :)

We want to be there until the very last second! I also plan the latest flight out possible that I can too. I don't care about the day in between, that's just another day that we could have been in WDW!!

We like to get home and have a day before we have to get back to the day to day! You've been gone, clothes to unpack, mail to open, :coffee: etc. and it's nice to have a day to get back into the REAL world. Though I wish WDW was the real one! :rotfl: It doesn't matter if we're in WDW or Hawaii I always give us a day to get back to reality!

It's becoming a tradition for me to check out of my hotel, head over to the MK, spend a couple of hours there, say goodbye, and drive to the airport for my late afternoon flight. Yup, gotta hit the parks on my way to the airport. I suggest a late afternoon to early evening flight if you can squeeze it in. It is best to do this when you have a rental car. I think relying on other forms of transportation back to the airport on your departure day would be waaay too hectic for a park visit during that time.

We leave the World early afternoon which prevents us from doing the parks that last day. This trip we're shooting for an evening flight so maybe we will get some time in at least one park. We've also planned two days home before we go back to work - we always need a vacation from Disney.

When we drive, we usually give ourselves a day to unwind. 10 hours in the car with 3 children :scared: ! When we fly, we usually leave at the last possible minute. However, I hate to unpack so maybe a day at home to get settled is really the best way to go.

We just got back and scheduled our flight as late as possible coming back. We hit the parks our last day after we checked out of our hotel.

We usually fly home on Saturday afternoon so the kids can get to bed at a somewhat decent hour. Then we lounge around all day on Sunday. We need a whole day to rest from all of the activity of WDW!

I second that emotion! :thumbsup2 DH and I were having a discussion on that similar subject just moments ago! I'm working on flight now so we were trying to decide if we want to leave late so we can hit the parks "one last time" before we have to get back to "Real life" :rotfl2:

For me, I leave the day before to give myself a day of rest. I have done it both ways and I have found for me to be useful at work my first day back, I have to have that day to get reacquainted with the daily grind and routine. Plus, since I drive there and back, I usually sleep half the day away from exaustion.

I regret not giving myself a day in between. I got home from the last trip on sunday morning. We flew out of MCO at 7am and took DME so that tells you what time we left for the airport and what time we were up. We got into LAX pretty early in the morning, and had a full day when we got home. I went back to work the next day and regretted every single minute of it. I will give myself a day of rest before going back to work. Or at least rest the day I return.

We always drive either arrive home the late at night and give ourselves a full day or arrive home early in the day the day before DH goes back to work. Funny that happens for disney but Daytona bike weeks he always takes the Monday he supposed to be back at work off too and we arrive home as late as possible for him to make it to work on Tuesday.

My main beef is once I'm home I need to get unpacked and get laundry done DH if he doesn't head straight to bed for work doesn't see the need in this after all I can do laundry while he at work which I normally do but no laundry no clothes to wear lol Seems he's always ready to head back out somewhere for a few hours.

I live in the UK and fly from Gatwick, which is a good few hundred miles from where I live (Swansea-ish area in South Wales). That, and a 9hr flight, means that it's just common sense to try and schedule a day between WDW and the real world.

Yes, we do. I think the kids would be too hyped up to go back to school. We go pretty much full blast while down there and everyone needs a little down time. pixiedust:

The last time we went, and the trip we are planning now, DH took two weeks. One for Disney, and one for recovery. His idea of vacation is to sit on the beach and read a book. So Disney, though he loves it, feels like work to him. During the second week we visit friends or a nature park/beach or come home and relax. (Last time a combo of all three - this time we haven't decided.)

I, on the other hand, take 2 months to recover. We leave for Disney at the end of school and I teach, so I've got the whole summer.

I couldn't imagine jumping back into work without a short break to do "nothing" activities.

We always like to have an extra day when we get home to sleep in, catch up on laundry, get back into a routine and adjust to the real world. Once I know our vacation is coming to an end, I like to enjoy that last evening and have that be a special ending to the trip and just get out of there the next day before I start feeling too sorry for myself.

I love Disney but could not imagine heading right back to work with no unwind time. Plus the fact that the time goes by so quickly, I would feel like I just left work since we usually leave right when I get home from my last day. I typically like to get in about 2 days of recovery time.

NEVER! That would have been one more WDW day. However, we usually drive, so travelling the road back serves as a "decompression chamber" for the transition from the magic of WDW to the day-to-day world of Green Bay.

Tim, who relishes every moment in Orlando!

I'd love to have one more day, every time it seems like we need at least another day. However, someone's got to grocery shop, mow the lawn, unpack and do the laundry. If I didn't do it Sunday, it wouldn't get done til the next weekend due to my work schedule.

My dream would be a 2 week vacation at WDW. Time enough to do it all, get a little rest, AND come back a day early.
