Endeavor on the launch pad now

Is Endeavor visible from any public roads as it sits on the launch pad? We do not have tickets to the launch but would like for the kids to get a glimpse of the shuttle on the launch pad prior to launch day. Can paying visitors to Kennedy this week actually see the shuttle on the pad from afar? Or is buying a causeway ticket on launch day the only way to actually see the shuttle on the pad?

If you go to Merritt Island Park and drive down by the ocean you can see the shuttle on the launch pad. You can also see it from the gantry that they stop at on the bus tour.

Not sure when launch date is but we did a tour at KSC for approx $20 called "Up Close" Tour. The bus takes you to different observation points, one overlooking the ocean and where they set up some of the high def cameras focused on the shuttle. It also took us just outside the Vehicle Assembly Building and other interesting buildings (don't want to give it all away). It was well worth the $ to be taken to all of these places and get the narrative by the guide that explains so much. There are other tours offered but the Up Close tour takes visitors as close to the launch as security allows.
I really had no interest in visiting KSC at all but my parents were coming with us, 1st time, and they wanted to do it. I really enjoyed it and was so glad I went. I enjoyed the IMAX movie as well, even got a little teary-eyed at some points but I'm sure PMS helped with that too.
