I am planning my DD's end of year party. I am also responsible for the class gift. I will collect money from all the parents and get her an Amex gift card.

I was also thinking about doing a remembrance gift from the class. Here are a few things I have thought of:

- A T-shirt signed by the kids
- A small photobook (from one of the photo websites) of pictures throughout the year
- A plate that the kids could customize by stamping their thumbprint on it (and maybe draw a face on them)

Her teacher is wonderful and she has been a teacher for 15+ years so I am sure she has gotten lots of things over the years.

Any of these sound good? Any other suggestions?

I like all of those ideas. My DS6 was in pre-k, we did a tie-together quilt with each square decorated by on of the kids. It was a kit that we got at Lillian Vernon. It was really cute and easy!

I like the signed t shirt idea but I think I am going to alter it a signed picture frame- I think I will have all the kids sign the mat and then put in the class picture- its her very first year of her own class! She has been so wonderful that I honestly wish I could give her more than I am but I am taking the collection from the class and then getting her a 50.00 gift card from me. She is so great with the kids, some of them were in a local theater production and she came out to watch them audition and then also to the play. She is will to tutor any kid that wants to come up at recess for anything. She goes out of her way in any way she can for the kids and I have nothing but positive things to say about her!

One of my favorite things to do is a clay pot with all of the children's handprints or names on it. I've done it both ways...handprints works for smaller children and older kids can write their own names.

I get a large clay pot and paint it school bus yellow. Use a black paint pen or sharpie and decorate the top to look like a ruler. Make sure to seal the whole thing well...on the inside of the pot too. Then I just plant some pretty flowers in it. My dd's preschool teacher still has one that I made when dd was in her 3yr old class.

Thanks everyone.

I like the clay pot and the picture idea. I will discuss these with the room treasurer and she what she thinks.

As a teacher, my most cherished gift was a photo album that had each student's picture and a little paragraph telling about why they liked being in my class. I still have it today and look at it often. :lovestruc

One year they did a ceramic pitcher, had each kid do a thumprint and their names, and then gave it to her with fresh flowers inside. She could then continue to put fresh flowers in it or artificial ones. It was very cute.
