Some of you may know that we have been trying to sell our motorhome, which we call The Holiday Road, for a month or two. We've loved that thing and made great memories over the past 3 1/2 years, but with our adoption we just don't see being able to use it much over the next year. Plus, even though it is a bunk model Winnebago, it would start to get a bit tight for a family of 7. And I hate to have something that expensive sitting around not being used enough.

Well, we have found a buyer! A nice family from Canada is buying it to begin traveling extensively with their 2 kids. It will be perfect for them. They are getting a good deal, and I am happy with the price I'm getting. They are coming to finalize the transaction the first week of August. It will be so sad to see it drive away! But life goes on, eh?

So, our camping adventures are over for a while. Once we bring little Mary home from Russia our lives will be pretty full of doctors visits, therapies, and whatever else her needs are, and it will take some time to settle into all that. But, our hope is that by this time next year we will be in a position to get back out there in a TT. We have already purchased what will be our new tow vehicle...a Ford E-350 with 6.8L V10. Matched to a bunkhouse TT, it will make a nice combo for a return trip to the Fort in October 2011, don't you think? :woohoo:

Sorry for rambling on. It's just a BIG change for me and the family, and it is therapeutic for me to type it all out and share with my Fiends.

We will be here for you, MH, TT or not, with snarky, rude, obnoxious replies to support you in your wonderful transition! Best of luck in your travels to get your addition to your loving family. Just make sure if you see a clothesline, take a picture if it is abusing trees in any shape or fashion.:laundy:

Dave, did you decide what to have painted on the side of that church van you bought, it just ain't cool the way it is. Maybe we could have a contest if you post a picture.

Momories had :cutie::cutie::cutie::cutie:
now memories to be had :cutie::cutie::cutie::cutie:+:cutie:

I'm thinking a big picture of you on the side, Bob.

If nothing else, it will keep it from being stolen. :rotfl2:

But hey, don't make fun of my Vanbourghini.

What a cool life story to have Dave, I'll pray for the whole family. All the best for the 7 of you. :thumbsup2

It can be sad to see the end of one era, but wow! Just think of all that God has in store for you in the next year!

Definitely will be praying for you and your family. :)

Your F-350 and a bunk house trailer sound absolutely perfect! We're planning on being there in Oct '11, so maybe we'll run into you and your family! :goodvibes

Ah, come on and suck it up! Oops, sorry, I thought this was the whiner thread. Anyway, life is kinetic, Dave, and always changing. I felt bad about every trailer I sold until I went camping in the new one.

There it is! You're exactly right. Looking back, when I traded in our old TT on the motorhome, I felt bad too. Didn't last long though.

I used to handle change better. Lately though, so much change is being forced on all of us that I tend to want to hang onto the things I can control a bit tighter. Maybe I just need to drink a little more. It all seems better that way. :rotfl:

Losing the Winnie is nothing compared to giving a little girl a loving family, a good, healthy environment, and all the opportunities she would never have if left in an orphanage in Russia. You, my friend, have taken the much higher road! There are much cheaper alternatives to MH's that will still allow your family to camp and build memories; only now those memories will be extended to one very fortunate and blessed little girl! Congrats on both counts! :littleangel:

The Gift of Life

We didn't give you the gift of life,
But in our hearts we know.
The love we feel is deep and real,
As if it had been so.

For us to have each other
Is like a dream come true!
No, we didn't give you
The gift of life,
Life gave us the gift of you.

Congratulations to you, your wife and family. God Bless.

Just don't be a stranger on the Boards.

That's beautiful! And unfortunately for everyone I don't see my DISboard participation changing. I'll still be here, just with no means of camping for a while.

What? A V-10? you moran. Youi mean to tell me you didn't get the diesel? You shoulda consulted with Larry. Maybe you could get some crappy J C Whitney gauges to line the dashboard with. Don't bother hooking them up RV.Net will gps you the readings.

Shut up donnie, I heard you aren't even allowed to read rv.net because you aren't smart enough on there... They know everything. Their bunch of expert amateurs are so much smarter, they can fix the gulf spill they are so smart.

You guys are gonna make Mary a terrific family. Not many people these days willing to change their life to help another. We can't wait until you get your TT and we meet up again at some CG.

After he gets chastised for the gasser, then he needs to debate on whether or not he needs a WD hitch with sway control. That'll get'em cranked for a week or two. At the same time, just tell'em your new TT is very close to your van's GCWR. We'll just watch.:lmao:

Seriously, when we sold the Puma one month after our last Fort trip (winter, 2008), it was absolutely heartbreaking to watch it being pulled away behind somebody else's vehicle. Four years of great memories just rolling away. But since we had APs, we did the Contemporary and Port Orleans French Quarter that summer. It was very nice but also confirmed to us we need to get back to the Fort again soon.

We were building a house which is why we sold the TT. But now that two years have passed, the new Sabre sits out there under the shelter. Our next Fort trip is this coming January and we can't wait. The sadness of selling the Puma is long gone but we still hold the memories of all those great trips in our hearts. Those will never leave us. Now chapter 2 has begun for our family RVing trips and we're so ecstatic.

Sounds like what you're doing is absolutely the right thing. But I think you're definitely taking one step back to be able to take two steps forward very soon. With your addition to the family, the Fort's going to be all the more fun next time.:thumbsup2

God Bless.
