My son's golden birthday is in May. My daughter's golden birthday is in August. I would like to take them on a joint trip to Disney to celebrate. What do you think...May or August. When pricing it out May is a tiny bit more expensive, but I am willing to pay the extra if the crowds and weather will be a lot better in May.

Thanks!!

If by the end of May you mean Memorial Day weekend or that week. Then not only are you paying more, the crowds are HIGH! Also remember that Star Wars weekends at HS start in May.

Any earlier, May is a great time to go weather and crowd-wise.

August is very humid and hot, but toward the end of the month and not in conjunction with Labor Day (Sept's first weekend), the crowds are really good.

I've been that week in May before and it was great! Both weather and crowds. (This past year and several years ago.) HS was very busy on Friday but it opening day for Star Wars weekends. Although this last year was busier than I remember it being my first May trip overall.

I would caution you again to check the Star Wars weekend dates and unless you have a major fan I would avoid HS on Fri, Sat & Sun while you are there. Visit the other parks those days and hit HS on Thursday.

I have been that time in August but it's been more than 10 years--all I remember is the heat! Crowds are different that time of year because so many school systems all over go back so much earlier than they used to.

Hope you have a great trip!

I would go in May, the weather is much more bearable. August is so very humid even at 9am!

Free Dining may also be available in late August (not sure about May).

Our family would prefer May for the weather. Flower and Garden festival in Epcot is usually on as well.

August for us was extremely humid and hot. We had to leave the parks by 2pm - but the water parks were a refreshing change. My wife refuses to go again in August because of the heat and humidity

Have you been on Star Wars weekend? Do a lot of people attend? My two boys like Star Wars and would probably enough attending...but I won't if it is CRAZY busy.

Me and my boyfriend did Star Wars weekend this year (at the end of may). If was ALOT of fun is you or your kids are star wars fans. It was REALLY hot and we saw alot of kids having trouble because they didnt drink enough water. I can only recommend that you drink lots of water if going in May.

Hope you guys have fun! :thumbsup2

That is a really good week to go in May. We had 1 bad year 2009 with the rain, but all the other times were great. We are normally there at that time, but going in early May this year.

Thanks. We are currently booked for that week in May. Hopefully the weather cooperates with us.

We hit the first Star Wars weekend this past May. It was busy but alot of those people focused on getting to the Stars Wars events/activities--ie, standing in line to get a chance to meet some of the stars from the movies, etc., hoping to get their kid signed up for the Jedi academy, etc. There are lots stuff that have to do with the Star Wars weekends that aren't so crazy. I would be willing to do it again in a few years when my DS is a tween/teen and gets into Star Wars more. DH likes Star Wars but can take it or leave it.

You do need to read up on going to the Star Wars weekends and Disney is going to be doing the meet & Greets if your kids like this kind of thing. There are specific places to pick up your pass to get into certain lines (yes, it is that specific).

I'm sure there are lots of Star Wars weekends threads on here and also Allears.net has tons of info on them.

I am going May 14th through May 22nd. I'll hit the last weekend of the Flower show at Epcot and the first weekend of Star Wars at HS. It should be interesting. I have been told by many people it's one of the best times to go between the crowds and the weather. Kids are still in school and many are holding out for the Memorial Day weekend.

Also note, that the new Star Tours in HS will open on May 16th (or 17th).
