End of Disney Dollars

In all the years I've been to Disney I've never seen or heard of Disney Dollars

I often get them to give the kids for spending money while at Disney. So when is the official ending of them?

I never forgot I think I renewed my Magic Kingdom Club membership and got $5 Disney dollars
and I was so happy to see them in use in Disneyland that I brought some now it will be another collectors item

I'll bet my daughters have a bunch of these stashed away somewhere.

Back when we rented strollers in the parks (like in the 90's) they would give you a Disney Dollar when you returned the stroller, sort of like a deposit return. I don't think we ever spent one.

Aww, I haven't used them in years, but I'm sad to hear they're gone. I loved them as kid. I think I still have some from the early 90s

Those people thinking of making a killing selling Disney Dollars on Ebay in the future: temper your enthusiasm.

Practically everybody who wants them already has them. There won't be a market for them.

I just ordered some over the phone, they are out of $1's and $5's so I could only get some $10's!!!!!! Just wanted to have some to hang onto and maybe put in a frame

I'm glad to know this as I had a 10, a 5 and 2 1s for my DGD they hadn't spent yet. I was talking about going to DS tomorrow so they could spend them. But...not now. They will be framed with the maps. LOL, I ordered my maps probably a week or 2 before they discontinued them.

Well, I guess my school going to make us have to pay all our meals in full now.

They gave us, $5 Disney Dollars per day for breakfast. Then one meal coupon that was obviously more worth spending for lunch/dinner.

This makes me so so sad I've been collecting for a long time and I'm still missing a bunch of years. When I go to Disney it becomes a game for me to find my missing years and my Disney friends pick me up some every time they go. Will be visiting the World in August Hope I get one last chance to go hunting.

Sad to see this go, but I understand in a way. MagicBands are the "way to pay" in the World now and most people buy giftcards. Butch got DSis and I about $25 each a few years back and I know I used at least some of it. I'll have to see if I kept a $1 or a $5 and add it to Ms Lady's Ticket Book from the first time she visited. I think she said she still had one of those.

The article someone linked to said Disney will stop "printing" them. What does anyone think the odds are there will still be some of these available at City Hall within the next year? I'm not looking to get one of each dollar (waaaay too expensive) but having the $1 and $5 or even $10 would be nice souvenirs I'd personally like to keep.

I remember having these in the 80s as a kid and loving them. I'm sure I've tossed these over the years due to not being as nostalgic as I got older, but wish I had them or any now. Bummer

There were some there last week. I will tell my nephews to save one of the bills for theri scrapook

I get more travelers checks than I do Disney Dollars. And I've think I've gotten two travelers checks in the last year.

Look into getting Dining gift cards. Thats what our group used. Its a much better deal than the meal vouchers since not every kid will want to get a full meal for lunch dinner and depending on the meal you may lose money on the transaction.

Posted this before but DDs are very expensive to produce. Once printed they are real money to Disney so must be handled as real money. Gift Cards only have value once rung up so if a box is stolen all you have is a box full of plastic cards.

I have $1 bill from 1987 with Mickey on it, the first ones to come out, I have it in a box somewhere, I should probably take it out and keep it in a safer place
Going today and buying some more so I can have the first and the last
