So I am so excited to go on our 5th trip to the World on July 26th but we decided to keep the trip a suprise from our DD's 12, 9 & 2!! We have stayed off property twice and at POR 2 but this time we are going to CBR for the first time!! Our son is going with his friends family and staying at BLT (Jealous!) Anyway as it gets closer I am having a hard time keeping it quite!!!:scared: So if you have suprised your family tell me how much they loved it to help me keep my mouth shut!!!:goodvibes

We surprised our DS16 last year with a stay at the Hard Rock Hotel. I wanted to tell him so bad as I knew how excited he would be but we kept quite. DH and I were not fans of the HRH but our DS is. When we pulled into the HRH, the look on his face was simply priceless and he got teary eyed and gave me the biggest hug. At that point I started to cry myself. Just that alone was so worth it for us not to spoil the surprise. Just a note, our DS is not good with surprises but he sure was with that one. I say keep the surprise, you will be happy that you did. Just imagine the looks on your DD's faces.:cloud9:

We are taking our third trip to the world and this is our first surprise trip! We leave in three weeks and it has been killing me not to tell my DD (7) and DS (2) because I know they would be super excited.

As far as they know we are going to the beach. No idea that our first stop is Disney! :rotfl: I want to spill the beans but think about how much fun it will be to surprise them and see the looks on their faces.

Keep the secret if you can! I'm positive it'll be worth it! I can't wait to let our kids know but I dont want to ruin the surprise!

Keep the surprise !! :)
We are currently not telling our twin 5 year olds and 8 year old until they ask where it is we are driving when they wake up in the AM (we are leaving after dinner and telling them we are going for an overnight). I'm really thankful we didn't tell them yet because my husband broke his foot on a jump (military) last week and it got very close to needing surgery and we were thinking we'd have to cancel it and then they would have been devastated.
Its still touch and go but I'm thinking it will just be a slower paced trip with a wheelchair. I can't wait to see their faces as it will be their first trip!
We managed to keep our cruise a few years ago from them until we arrived at the dock and their response was priceless! I know a lot don't agree with surprising, but all kids are different and ours love it.

We are going on our 4th trip in August. We were just there last Nov. with my sister and family, and kids believe we only go every other year, but we got the free dining and I just had to book again. We aren't telling my DS8 or DD4. First surprise trip, lucky for us, we are always talking about or dreaming about or watching a show about Disney, so easy for us to talk and plan "in the open" without them getting wise! It is, however, very difficult to keep the surprise, because they are both Disney fanatics like my wife and I, so we know how excited they will be to find out!

Well we are 48 days out and I have been able to keep it so far!!!:cool1: But I find the closer we get the harder it is!!!

We have surprised our kids twice and it is the best surprise ever. Our kids want us to surprise them again! You have made it this far - I would definitely keep it a secret!!! The look of pure amazement and joy is awesome.

I'm going against the grain here and saying don't wait! Personally, for me and my kids, they would be surprised for sure, but that one fleeting moment of surprise isn't worth the weeks of anticipation they could be feeling. The countdowns, the planning, etc. is much more fun and lasts much longer then the split second of surprise. Just my .02

I am pretty excited about how we are telling them my son who is 14 is going the same time we are with his best friends family and staying at BLT. My girls have been telling me forever how its not fair:guilty: So after much begging to the hubby we booked a trip for the same time frame just at CBR. So my son got really into and made a slideshow/movie that tells them all the neat things they are going to do in Colorado (where they think we are going) and about 10 slides in he put But you will have to save those things for next year because I will meet you at splash mountin tomorrow! They always watch movies in the car so that will just be the first movie they watch!! It was so fun to see the 14 year old get so into making the video for his sisters. It truly was a pre magical moment for me!!

I would agree with you, and normally that's what we do, but the last trip we took, our kids knew, but my sister's kids did not, and my son was upset that his cousins got surprised, and asked how come we never surprise them...so we decided that's just what we'd do! My wife and I are having our own fun planning though, and having a secret countdown on our Facebook status updates, we just post a #, with no other comments...we aren't telling anyone we are going, so no one can ruin the surprise! 73 days to go!

We kept our first trip to the world a total secret until the last minute, and I truly mean the last minute. We had it all planned and had the suitcases packed. We woke the kids up about 5 in the morning and said we need you guys to come downstairs. They managed to drag themselves down the stairs where we had some shirts waiting. We said they needed to take the shirts and put them on because we were heading out in just a few minutes.

They were still pretty sleepy so things were sinking in slowly. They picked up the shirts and tried to process what was written on them. It came slowly, but they finally realized that the shirts said we were headed to Disney World. (There is actually a picture of the shirt in my first blog post on www.mydisblog.com) They were super excited and it worked out great for us. Being that it was our first time we managed to fill the time at the airport and on the plane talking about all the things we were going to do. We even had little booklets made for each of them with park information, schedules, touring plans, games and coloring pages. It was a great experience. :cool1:

Hope your surprise goes GREAT!

I agree to a certain extent, but I think it depends on the person. For me personally, I LOVE the planning and anticipation. It's part of the magic for me. For others though, they aren't really into the planning.

So OP, you know your kids better than us! I would LOVE to pull that surprise and I think your kids reaction will probably be worth it :goodvibes
