Enchantment Or Frustration?

When I was single and working in an office I hated Vday...it was awful to watch everyone else get flowers and I felt left out and alone.

I do feel sorry for those women who expect a whole lot...I personally think they must have some insecurities that they have to be told in such a big way.

This is apparently a problem for men too. I don't know how much faith to put in statistics, but I recently read in a book about the selling of American holidays that a study by the Chicago Police showed that the most common crime committed on Valentine's Day was prostitution. I thought that that was sad, but I also wondered whether the prostitutes got nicer clients on Valentine's Day and whether they were nicer to their clients on that day.

I still like the idea of Valentine's Day. In theory it is really sweet. Yet experiences like yours make me realize that it is indeed a poignant hoiday.
