Last time we visited ETWB was in August when the lines were long since it was so new. I'm wondering if it is still necessary to FastPass it, or if the wait times have dwindled. We plan on hitting it up shortly after rope drop (following riding The Little Mermaid ride).

I wouldn't FP anything you will use this phrase for. Anything you hit in the first half to one hour after RD is still doable. Now if you want to FP it for later in the day and knock out, say, 4-5 other rides first, that may be another story. If you still want to do near RD, then FP something else you'll do later and consider switching the order. At RD do ETWB then mermaid, then a few others that never need FP, then start you FP for something like Peter Pan.

I would watch the wait times as you get closer to your trip, to see how this attraction is doing. When we were at WDW a couple weeks ago, the wait times for this were often in the thirty minute range.
