Anyone every use Empire Today Flooring? I have them coming for an estimate
tomorrow. Anyone know if they have any discounts?

When we used them if you were a Sams club member you got $250 off. This was about 1 1/2 years ago. Also when the guy did my estimate he did not add correctly ( and I did not notice so, they were the lowest ) we went with them. Well not catching his mistake cost us another $500. I know this is my fault for not caculating it myself. Anyway... They did not have the grout I ordered and the guy went to Home Depot to buy some that he said was close to my color. The did a horrible job and showed up late every day. I would not reccomend this company to my worst enemy.

I am sorry but I have heard nothing but bad things about them.My DH was researching them as he is a installor and was wanting to change jobs.He started reading up on them and said no way he would work for them.
Which he is a perfectionist and he want leave till everything is perfect,he said he had read horror stories on how they left peoples houses. So he said he would never associate his name with that business.
He has worked so hard to get where he is at.He is definetely the best around and would never risk his name and reputation.

We have used them for carpeting twice and once for hardwood. We've been very happy with their products and installation and would recommend them. I know of two other people in my area who have also used Empire with good results. (I'm in Chicagoland.) Perhaps it depends on where you're at?:confused3

I personally have never used them. However, 2 people that I work with have and they both had good experiences. Actually the 2nd person used them because the 1st recommended them. Maybe like mentioned above, it depends on where you live. :confused3

Good luck...

The guy that we went with who did all our carpet used to work for them, and he said it wasn't that great. Yes, I realize he's trying to sell us his business, but we did a lot of research and his prices were very competative. He just said that for what they were offering, they were not the best in prices. I've heard not so good about Empire. Of course, getting it the next day is their big thing, so I'm kind of with the "you get what you pay for" belief.

My brother has a friend that's a carpet installer. I asked him once about Empire, he said that they charge double what other companies charge, then have a "sale" for half off, or "buy one room, get one free". So if you buy during a sale, you'll pay about the regular price you'd get from another company (which is still more than a sale price at another company), if you don't buy during a sale at Empire, you're really ripped off. Either way, you're almost certain to get a better price elsewhere.

The only way I'd use them is if I needed to replace my carpet in a hurry, and I can't think of a reason that I'd need to do that.

We used them and their work was great. We were not interested in next day, just checking around on prices, no one beat theirs (if we did it next day). It only made sense due to price to hurry up and do it, we just weren't in a hurry.

I used them for carpeting. I was not really looking at getting it done as quickly as they did it but the guy offered me a deal I couldn't refuse. I knew the price should be about $2800-$3000. He quoted $5000. I said No thank you. He did some more math and said $3000. I was still waivering and was sick and told him I didn't feel like moving furniture for a next day install so he said let me call the boss- which he didn't really do and came back with $2500 out the door, upgraded pad and carpet plus they would remove all furniture and put it back. I agreed and they had 2 guys who didn't speak english out about 10am the next day and they finished about 7pm. They disassembled stuff they really didn't need to and they did a nice job. I am happy with it but now know to never accept the first or 2nd price. I found out many companies will negotiate, even mattress and furniture stores. It's best to know what it should cost and go from there. I would not have been as happy if I had paid more then it was worth.

PS. I laid my own 18" porcelain tile in my kitchen, dining room, hallway and bathrroms and saved a bundle. It was really easy but labor intensive. I did lose some weight doing it so it was a nice bonus. I see my mistakes but no one else does and people are amazed I did it myself. I was able to design it just the way I wanted. Installation would have more than doubled the price for the tile and materials were extra.

I cannot emphasize enough how horrible our experience
was with them installing carpet!!
RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RUN - don't walk - away from them! The mark-up on their product is ridiculous - I'm talking in the 100% range over local installers. Thank heaven they screwed up and didn't come when they were supposed too. We cancelled the order and used a local store for 1/2 the price!!!

two words - RIP OFF!!!!!
I am an interior designer and being in "the business" I would never use them. They have inferior products, price gauging, and less then average installers. The way they work is fast, their clients are usually in a rush and do not have time to shop around. They will install the next day so they make a ton of money charging to clear out the room, removal of the current floor, etc. F.Y.I -Unless money is not an object never pay someone to remove carpet and pads. It is super easy and not worth the extra $'s. I have a flooring guy for my clients but, Home Depot usually has decient contracters. Good luck!!
