Like 3 years ago, when I was slightly (but not totally) depressed, I decided to do the emo look. Sadly, no one at my school knew what this was, so they thought I was goth.
And then like last year this kid wanted to be goth and he was like 'Where did you get your goth clothes?'
And I'm like yeah.
I was never goth.

I think in the 'emo' in ohdisco's society is different than 'emo' in most of our societies. Based on the pictures.

Around here that girl would just be an unpopular dorky kinda chick and the guy'd be a skater.

The Emo kids at my school wouldn't be what we would say unpopular.
They're their own group. They sit under the stairs and there's about 30 or so of them.
They're probably not popular in class, but they're pretty popular among the... non preps and jocks?

Infact we got into a discussion the other day during my homeroom class....We were talking about bands....I mentioned that I had recently really started to like the group Paramore and this girl looks at me and says "Your a prep you have no idea about what that group sings about"

Call me crazy but you don't have to KNOW about something to like a song.....

None of those bands are true emo. Moss Icon, the Hated, Silver Bearings, Native Nod, Merel, Hoover, Current, Indian Summer, Evergreen, Navio Forge, Still Life, Shotmaker, Policy of Three, Clikatat Ikatowi, Maximillian Colby, Sleepytime Trio, Noneleftstanding, Embassy, Ordination of Aaron, Floodgate, Four Hundred Years, Frail, Lincoln, Julia, Shroomunion...that's emo music. read UP.

Those bands are all alternative rock to me. EXCEPT Weezer, The Get Up Kids, and old Sunny Day Real Estate (diary and before), which are indie rock. Old JEW is Emo, though.

man...i listened to some of their songs...and they're amazing sad.

i was talking to one of my friends about it and she thought i was crazy. but i am wayyy too happy all of the time to be that emotional, but i don't mind the whole scene look.

So if someone's parading around pretending to be emo, that bothers me. And I also don't like when someone's like "oh, that person's emo."

If I had to label myself, I'd be somewhere between nerd, hippie, emo, and... um, I don't know. Lol.

I don't know QUITE what I'm trying to express; this post is pretty incoherent.

Well I mean, like, if someone has a reason to be emo, it's self-destructive to cut themselves..
If someone doesn't have a reason, it's stupid to pretend to have a reason.

also that you are not one that is labeled, and that you hate the fact that people love to label others. i hate that too. but i will call you whatever you call yourself.

Most people cut because they just need to feel something. You kind of walk around in a haze all the time and you just need to make sure you are still there. I've never cut, but I understand why some people do. I always direct them to therapy.

Anyways, I have no idea what you'd label me. I'm just a huge mesh of nothing.

BACK TO EMO- the topic of this thread.

some of my friends have said that they would be scared of my and wouldn't trust me with knives...but thats crap. i mean, i dont have a reason to cut, but i do know people that have/do because they have bad lives, so im exposed to that. but w/e its about a lifestyle, not just music. even though thats what started all of this thread and stuff.

i guess that i wouldnt be against experimanting and im not against people that actually comsider themselves emo..
