Those were called "E-Ride Nights" and pre-dated the current PM EMH.

WDW Resort guests could buy tickets (at the resort) for $10, or so,
and that WAS considered a "private event."

But, most don't remember that this was ONLY at MK.

Thanks this must be what I remember as I think we still used the ride tickets at that point as well. Anyway, miss those kinds of things where the parks were not so crowded.

Love the parties now, just wish they would lower the attendance even if the tickets were a little more expensive.

But, for PM EMH, there are no parades and fireworks during the EMH, so there's no need to stop non-resort guests from anything but riding the attractions.

Well let's say we hear more of the same stories that the OP mentioned of Cast Members letting guests on attractions without KTTW cards when it's obvious they were staying offsite, would you not agree then they should tell them to leave the parks?

I remember back when Disney first "experimented" with using the Resort Key-cards for PM EMH.

The CMs and guests who participated in the tests were pretty positive that the system was much less efficient and dependable than the wristbands.

So, they went back to using the wristbands for awhile after the key-card experiment... with everyone assuming the wristbands were the winner.

Then, a few weeks later, Disney dropped the PM EMH wristbands, went with the key-cards, and that's been the system ever since.

The only real money that they are saving is the wages for the CMs needed to distribute the wristbands.

So, there ya go.

Here's an idea on EMH at the particular park, stamp resort guests upon entry, such as they do when you are leaveing the park so you can return later, the stamp would allow resort guests to use the attractions but no added CM would be needed to hand out bracelets

I simply do not care if there are non-resort guests walking around the park with me during PM EMH.

If the CM's don't fully enforce the key-card rules at the ride queues, why would I expect them to fully enforce non-WDW resort guests being evicted from the park?

BTW did complain to supervisor about CM. He told me they would look into it.

I did notice at HS a band was playing at the stage much later than posted closing time. Does that not add to the issue of having non resort guests try to get on rides. Some may think that they have access since a band is still playing well past closing. This happened on this past Saturday night.

I would suggest that non resort guests are requested to leave.

Seriously? Last year was the first time I had been back to WDW since 2005 and now that we are older we are more the go later in the day and stay till close

They still use the stamps in the Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure parks.

I don't think that switching from resort keys to wristbands would impact the issue of CMs using their discretion to allow non-resort guests to access the rides.

I meant if the Cast Members were not enforcing the rules like the OP said because wouldn't the only other option be to make them leave, so we know it's only onsite guests in the parks. I look like this because all it takes is a few offsite guests to go on the attractions during PM Extra Magic Hours and some Cast Members not bothering to tell them no. So those offsite guests and Cast Members spoil it for those that just liked to walk around and shop during those times, because now they are told to leave to make the park exclusive to those staying onsite. So I think WDW should be more concered about those sneaking onto the attractions when they are not allowed and not worrying about what $ the offsite guests might spend in the parks during that time.

I haven't been to an EMH pm yet but isn't it hard for the CM to check every single guest & card for each ride

I liked the wrist bands too but taking out your resort ID & presenting it to a CM seems no more difficult to check than when they look at your FP return time & date. So IMO it's more inconvenient to the guest & not too much trouble for the CM doing the checking.
