Hi, do you got to the EMH hours or do you avoid them?
I have read two lots of advice on the matter and I am wondering what you do.

for the evenning emh you have to show your room key too prove you are staying onsite, then you will be given a wristband fo that evening. It is usaly given out midday in the park which is havibg emh,Each person has to show room key and cast members put them on you.
For the mornning hour you are surposed to show your room key at the gate and you are let in

My theory has always been to avoid them and, on the odd occasion I've ignored my own advice, I've been proved right. Mosty recently, we went to Epcot for IllumiNations during an EMH evening and it was mobbed. Really, I've never seen the place so packed and I was miserable. Subsequent visits, on the same trip, were comparitively dead and infinitely more pleasurable.

As temting as they are, to stay really late when i'm not ready for my day to end, I have avoided them all, i can't shake off the nagging feeling that the park will be swamped like Deb said, the only way i would do it is if i was in the park earlier in the day and collected fastpasses for that night, which would get round the long lines theory. i think in August with just adults in my party, we may swing by the Magic Kingdom and try one out so i can see for myself, but i will go with the attitude that if it is swamped then i won't be dissapointed if i walk straight back out;)

When we went last September we went to evening EMH at both MK and Epcot. All the rides were walk ons except Soarin' BUT that had a queue of at least 60mins the whole time we were there when the next longest wait we had was 25mins. We also did morning EMH at BB, which again had no lines :goodvibes

We loved EMHs especially as the parks close relatively early in September. :cool1:

I think time of year has a lot to do with whether people enjoy them or not :confused3

Will be doing them again this year. :thumbsup2

We have never stayed on site and realised
what a disadvantage it was whilst waiting in the
queue for TL and BB. Those with room keys were allowed
in before us and by the time we entered all the good spots
had been taken. I do think that at water parks its
advantageous:thumbsup2

If I am planning on going to a park that has EMH I try to be there for EMH as they can be excellent. If I am not planning an early start I avoid any park that has early EMH. Like others I have found the evening EMHs to be crowded.

We where there last July, and the opinion was to avoid them.
But! i did not take the advice , and what a mistake that was, parks where crowded and what rides where open, queues where horrendous, so i would say avoid them ,especially if you are there June through August.
I did take advantage of the EMH mornings at the water park ,as has been said and was excellent ,we only stayed till about 11 am , but the first hour we managed to do all the slides ,some twice, so definetly set the alarm for them.

didnt read op througth, thought how to get to emh.Have got bands for it once but never went back to try it out.Much pfrefer the mornning hour as that suits our way of getting up early.Once been sat outside bush for 45min waiting for it to open. And have seen the stormtroupers open MGM many times during star wars weekends

I did not realise that if you stayed on site you went ahead of off siter's. You get the EMH but thats before the parks open for the general off site people, so technically staying off site should not disadvantage you to get in parks

BB and TL open one hour early most mornings, definitely in summer, so those on site will get to enter ahead of those off site who have to wait until the official opening time to be allowed in. On a good day I am sure all the good spots do go quickly.

We prefer to avoid them. The EMH park is usually mobbed and I don't have the patience for that first thing in the morning. We prefer a nice sit down meal in the evening and are usually well out of the parks by then.

Yes I can see what you mean, my fault skim read your post:upsidedow

I can see how that in summer woud be a big disadvantage.

We have always tried to avoid them, as when we have accidentally entered the park the crowds are horrendous but we are talking about July when it is peak season. As a rule I try to plan to go to the park that had the extra hours the day before because it is so quiet, all the onsiters have usually moved to the next extra hours.

To me, going in peak season, there isn't any advantage with extra opening hours because all the onsiters hit the park. Especially as I believe a lot of Americans just have one ticket for one park so they want to make the most of their day in the park that is open the longest.

We just hit the quietest park early each day and have never had any problems with lines even in peak season. We have usually done the rides we want to do several times by mid morning. However, the penalty for this is we are up and out at 7 am, which we don't have a problem with but others have. In our experience parks start to fill up from 11 am onwards. So if you have got into the park early you could be at least half way round before the crowds build up at attractions close to the entrance.

TBH I've never managed a morning EMH - none of my family are early risers! But I've always found the late EMHs to be a good thing - all rides have been walk-ons - but then I've only used them at MK in August as we've mainly stayed at the MK resorts and it's an easy jaunt. I used to love the E-Night event when on-site guests could pay a little extra to go into MK and it was dead quiet and very atmospheric... :cool1:

For the first few days when we wake up really early wo do the morning EMH's and find that we can get loads of rides done in that hour, after that we avoid the morning one. We have been to the eve ones, at MK we found we could easily get on rides but Epcot was packed.

wish they would go back to the old oppening hours, still remember leaving parks 1am many times. Now they shut earler and give emh as perks to onsite hotels and have ticket dos in evening.

We used the am EMH in Aug 05 & found it quite good. We used to arrive about 8.30 & get tommorrowland under our belt before the rush. Only tried evening twice, once in MK & once in MGM although crowded we did'nt queue for long. I think the crowds were people making their way out.
