Are extra magic hours no longer exclusive to resort guests? We stayed until 1am at MK last night. Park closed at 11pm. EMH were until 1am. No CMs checked magic bands or were directing non resort guest out at 11pm. Back in the day you needed to show key cards to enter rides. What's controlling it now??

Evening EMH only restricts offsite guests' access to attractions--not the shops, restaurants, or parks themselves. The only thing that's changed in recent years is that MagicBands are now used to restrict access to rides.

I understand the shopping but there was no magic band checking to enter rides. Which is why I thought EMH was no longer just for resort guests.

I sometimes hear reports like yours that WDW doesn't enforce it, I'm sure that's not a policy but CMs being inconsistent as they often are.

You got lucky I guess- we've never been to an emh evening where they didn't check our bands on every single ride. Sometimes, since we were obviously together, they'd scan a couple and let the rest of us through, but at least 1 person got checked and it was rare that they didn't check us all.

I've never noticed them letting people on rides without checking, but for anyone that does, I'd suggest taking note of the CM's name and report it to guest services. It isn't a policy, it's a CM not doing their job.

During evening EMH, they're suppose to send everyone through the FastPass line where everyone scans their bands. Maybe the system was down last night?

Many attractions don't have FastPass lines.
And, AFAIK, the regular FP scanners don't reveal Resort status.
That's why CMs use portable MB scanners at attraction entrances for PM EMH.

I don't think the OP got lucky because he didn't stay on property. I read it as he did stay on property - but wonders if it's still an exclusive perk because he didn't have to prove it this visit.

Thanks, I totally missed that.

This summer we went to EMH at the MK on our first night. For some reason our Magic Bands did not scan as resort guests at any of the attractions. We just told the CMs that we were resort guests and they let us thru without checking anything else. No argument, nothing. They just let us in the lines. Either we looked so honest that they believed us or they did not care. Either way it is hard to see how anyone was controlling non resort people on the rides. They were at least scanning with the hand held thing but obviously not denying based on the result.

Of course the EMH that night were so absolutely packed that it was not really a perk. An hour wait for the mine train over one hour into EMH is not a very good perk. Maybe the CMs recognized this and figured they might as well let everyone thru.

I was at EMH that night too....we got scanned on every ride.....

I've always felt that it is probably too much of a bother (and just bad PR) to "kick" or deny guests out of the park for late night EMH. So they probably just don't enforce it.

It's not that great of a perk anyway, the parks would probably normally be low crowds if they simply kept the park open to 1:00 AM normally simply due to most people not wanting to be out until 1:00 AM!

I mean, why would they really care? There are probably thousands of resort guests that aren't utilizing the PM EMH at the parks, so who cares if a few hundred off-site guests are still at the park having a good time (and probably spending money on food, drinks and souvenirs).

You cannot do morning EMH unless you are an onsite guest, but they will not clear the parks for evening EMH, offsite guests just will not be able to get on rides.
And non PM EMH eligible Guests cannot enter the PM EMH Park once the PM EMH begins-they have to already be in the Park.:)

I assume that it you aren't using a MB, you just flash your room key?

we stayed at Shades of Green last year, which is eligible for EMH but we didn't get magic bands or KTTW etc and we utilized EMH. Exactly one CM asked us where we were staying and I said SoG and she took my word for it on the honor system I guess. On this particular day the park closed at 1am and EMH were 1-3am and it was completely deserted in there anyways. My daughter and I didn't see one other person all thru Adventureland

How did you get into the PARK?
How did you use FP+?
