EMH Question

In January we will be making our first trip since EMH went into effect. Can someone explain how they work? I know how to find out WHICH parks have them for each day, but how do I find out what the actual extra hours are? Is it just 1 hour prior to normal opening and 1 hour after regular closing? Is there a EMH FAQ somewhere that I can read all about it?
