EMH Question

Hi

It's become a tradition for us to go to MK first thing on our first "proper" day, have breakfast at 8am at CP and then we're done ready for a big hit on Fantasy Land. Now, next year, it's likely that our first day will be a Thursday which this year (and I'm assuming next year) is a early EMH day. Does this mean that the restuarants open a hour early as well, so can we get breakfast at 7am or is it 8am as normal? The problem I can see is that the park will be fairly busy with EMH folk and the benefits become less.

Is it weird that I really love the planning just as much as the holiday itself!!!

Thanks,

I don't think CP will be open as early as 7am, i'm sure it will be 8am as normal regardless of EMH, just check on the Disney Restaurant Reservation website & see what it says.

:)

Ordinarily, restuarants open at the saame times regardless of EMH. I know for a fact that CP opens at 8am whether MK has morning EMH or not as we have been on a morning which had EMH and asked the same question. The earliest we could make an ADR for was 8.05am.

Morning magic hours don't affect operation times of the restaurants, although selected restaurants may take seatings later during evening EMH, which causes some confusion.

If your first day is on a Thursday I would not want to spend the EMH hour eating when you could be using it to get a lot done in the park before the crowds descend. Unless you are staying offsite (?) in which case it won't matter.

i agree - if you're going into MK on a morning EMH day, i certainly wouldn't spend the first hour eating....especially since you head to fantasyland first...

i would go to fantasyland during EMH (if you're staying onsite) and then go to breakfast...

or go to fantasyland and then tomorrowland (the other land that's open during morning EMH) and then go to breakfast....but first pick up a set of FPs to something....whatever it is you like...

but will you be able to spend an hour in the park before you eat? or will you be too hungry?

It's a long time ago, but we went against the grain and made an ADR (or whatever it was called back then) for Crystal Palace on an EMH day (or whatever it was called then ;)) for younger dd's 11th birthday. We had a fantastic time at the restaurant, but we couldn't believe how busy the park was afterwards! Avoiding EMHs has always been our MO and on the occasions we've been forced to ignore our own advice, we've always paid in terms of crowds. Always. I can't over-emphasise what a difference it makes.

we also avoid EMH, even though we always stay onsite..

Have you considered a late lunch to change things up a bit? If you went for the morning EMH and hit all the rides and shows you want to do, by noon-ish the place starts getting really busy. Use up any fast passes, go for a CP lunch and then go take a break at your resort or hop to another park

Thanks; the lunch thing might be a great idea.

Am I the only one who loves EMH?!!!! Every year we always stay really late at MK - like until about 2am, only once though - DS always gets a second wind and we love it; never been huge crowds, we've always walked on most rides and really loved the atmosphere!

Lunch works well in situations like this.

We are also huge fans of EMH. Like you we prefer the super late 3 am evenings at MK but since we are doing October again, the best we get is 1 or 2 am.

with the super late ones, you have a chance of getting an empty park...
when it's only until midnight, the crowd level doesn't really let up...

That is so true. We went last year in October so it was our first 'non peak season' trip and MK was open until 1 am the first EMH night and 2 am the second. What we found was that with the early closings for the party nights, it made the park really busy and everyone seemed to stick it out to the bitter end  Yes, it was quieter and there were shorter lines than in the day, but nothing was walk on until the last half hour and even then, it wasn't as quiet as what we were used to. The 3 am closings are the best - as you say, park to yourself then :cool1:

NO!!! we love EMH too :) TBH i've never noticed much difference between crowd levels on EMH and Non EMH days in the mornings, and we've usually done enough by the time of the evening EMH's or maybe its time of year we have been :confused3
