I'm sure this has come up many times, but I can't find a thread anywhere. Some people swear by going to the park early for EMH and/or staying for the late hours. Others say the parks are too crowded on those days, since everybody's trying to get those extra hours in. So - which way do you swing on the issue, and WHY!?!

If I were staying onsite, I would do the early mornings. Early is always better for crowds, even at Christmas. Get as many of the popular things done as you can before the crowds. Then relax and enjoy or hop to another park. Staying offsite means that I stay away from EMH parks if possible.

We avoided them this year. Last time we went, we did them a few mornings, but frankly, we really didn't enjoy getting up at 6:30 so that we could be at the bus stop by 7:15 in order to make it to the parks by 8:00. Getting up at 6:30 and then rushing, just feels too much like a work day to me! I'd much rather "sleep in" until 7:15, take a full hour to get everyone ready and then be at the bus stop by 8:15.

In addition, we felt that the EMH parks were definitely much more crowded by 10:30.

If you're functional in the morning - it's very worth it to go EMH in the AM

because, not only are the parks EMPTY during that time - the parks don't get noticeably crowded til 10 or 11 -- even on a non EMH day.

EMH at night was crowded at MK (and that one was til 1 or 2 in the am!!)

but the other evening EMH's weren't that crowded at all!

I'd say it depends on the park. I'm not a morning person, so I can't do any of the AM EMH. When I was there in Dec, the MK had EMH until 1 am. As time went on, the park GREATLY thinned out. And between midnight and 1, there was NO ONE. It was amazing.

I love evening EMH, but always avoice the mornings. Morning EMH, especially at Animal Kingdom, are always a madhouse.

We stay off site, and after encountering the MK on an EMH day, we picked up a schedule so we could avoid any future EMH days! Since we stay offsite, we can't take advantage of EMH, and arriving at opening for regular guests it's still very busy, and got busier as the day went on. It was crazy busy at MK that day, and it wasn't much fun waiting in line in 98 degree heat!

My perspective is, we're there, we're staying on site, bought tickets and will try it. Just strolling around a EMH park for a few hours is better than sitting in a room. If its too crowded then we scoot to another park if ones open. I usually let the wife do some gift shops that are open, we do catch a few rides but its just great to be in the MK till 1 am. ON that day we spend alot of down time at the resort pool since we will be heading back to the late hour.

Check to see what attractions you want to go on and what is open on EMH. We have done them in the past; got right on the 2-3 main things we wanted to go on, but then, nothing else was open we wanted to take part in, so we felt like we wasted up to an hour in between EMH and reg. opening. We could've slept in, gone on those attractions at reg. opening, and then gotten right on the other attractions.

We skip EMH mornings from now on and only do MK EMH evening if we've taken a big rest during the day.
