EMH MK till 2am or DHS for Star Wars?

Cracking me up over here!!:lmao:

Well, I think some of you may be right in that staying up too late might do us in for the next morning. We are driving. TWO days to get there. Since there is not much to do at DHS maybe the SW thing is the better option. Now I am wondering if we could schedule it so that we get in a few hours earlier just to see the parade. I am SO not a Star Wars fan, but he gets a kick out of it. The kids will probably be tired from the drive and we could just take it easy and maybe go for a swim and ready ourselves for the next morning.

It's obvious there are alot of SW fans on this board. Why did I know when I posted y'all were gonna be on DH side?

I guess I should be a loving wife and give him what he wants. I just realized the that is his actually birthday! You are right, he wins.

Thanks for you're help! :disrocks:

Awesome!! and arriving early to boot :)
Happy Birthday DH!!!! :woohoo:

OK, I sent this thread to DH and he wants to know:

"Hmmm find out what time the parade usually is… and how late the park stays open. We are not going for the autographs we can get those in the Plano sci fi expo…That is also the only night for the “fantasmic” show at dhs at 9pm?"-- Ang's DH

Anyone?

Thanks,
Ang

Bummer...

Because I'm cheap. :) It's not that big of a deal for me, really. We are taking a short cruise (RCCL) after World so I don't want to spend more on hoppers.

How old are you kids? Curious if mine youngest could handle it...

Thanks,
Ang

I don't have any children, but I have taken my cousin's oldest daughter (will be 12 in May) and she did really well, but we did have that midday break and she relaxed with her book. She was 7 the first time we took her and 10 the the next 2 times.

The parade is usually at 11:40am and the park probably closes at the same time Fantasmic starts, but I will check I am on the WDW site now. Yes, DHS closes at 9pm on June 6th

All the better stuff happens 8a to 12p. I don't remember much of anything going on in the afternoons, that is why we leave after the parade.

The Hoopla spoof they do around 6pmish is a DO NOT MISS!! Make sure to get there early to stand in a location where you can see. The characters are too fab! My DH and son are huge fans and loved the whole day, but this part was the cherry on top!!

Where does the Hoopla take place? We've never done it but it sounds like we have been missing something.

OP: We are there the 5 - 10th going home the 10th. Fantasmic is ONLY showing that Sunday night. )and then on the 10th but we will be home by then) Not sure if that influences your decision or not but it did ours. My DGS won't miss Fantasmic. And he already asked if SW would be going on. I highly suggest you drive as much as possible day 1 to make cut time--but not until you are too tired to be safe on the road. What was your driving plan--straight thru or lots of stops to stretch and eat? Maybe eating in the car will work for you and cut a bit of time?

HTH.

We would do the EMH at MK til 2am!! And my kids (ages 13, 9, and 7) will make it til then!! We love the late night EMH's!! We will be there over Memorial Day weedend and my 9 year old loves Star Wars but I don't want to fight the crowds there! We are also doing just the MYW tickets this year to save money (first time without PH)! Oh well, gotta compromise, atleast we will be at Disney!!!! :woohoo:

We will be there that weekend. Our current plan is to hit DHS either sat or sun (probably sun since I plan to be at MK for EMH hours Friday night) and after DHS head over to MK sunday for another late night!

Too bad you don't have Hoppers...

Don't know how old your kids are, but on our last trip mine were 12 and 6...and we did 8 a.m. to 3 a.m. at the MK one day! And, they were up and at Studios by 9 the next day. And, not grouchy or unhappy, lol! Disney motivates my kids, what can I say.

That said, we are all huge Star Wars fans...had a great time at the touring symphony show last fall...so we'd choose Star Wars!

Well, it turns our we're going to be there early so we should not miss the parade. At least that what we plan. :)

If you are going, you really want to be there at opening, well actually before opening, so you can watch the pre-show with the storm troopers opening HS.

You also definitely want to see the parade, which starts around 11:30ish.

The ending Hoopla is great, but it is very packed, and if you aren't close to the front of the stage you can't see. The Hoopla is located by the Star Wars ride where they do the Jedi Training academy.

There is a jedi mind challenge for the kids that my children did last year (they are clone wars fans) and they loved it. They even got star wars toothbrushes as a prize. You need to sign up for that at the opening of the park if you want your kids to do this.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to another site, but if you google sww.studioscentral you'll find a great site for all things Star Wars Weekend. It will show you the schedules for the years past, and the park maps for those weekends.

Oh and you can't use your Give a Day tickets to get fast passes for the celebrities that are there. Those are special fast pass tickets that are given out at the entrance to the park and they are gone very early in the morning. We got to HS last year about an hour before the park opened and the passes were already gone for the day (well standby was available, but we didn't do that)

Are you driving from the Dallas area? We drove from Tyler last year, and it's not a bad drive. We were going to go again this year, just because my boys loved Star Wars weekend so much. I think we've decided on a cruise instead.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Great post!! I guess we're just going to stay off site before our stay at POR, so we should get there before it opens. Dallas area, yes. It's gonna be a loooong drive. Me :faint: Kids x3 :hyper2:

well, the masses from Star Wars at DHS will all head over to MK for EMH...so just go with the very crowded flow.
