There are no EMH at MK for any of our trip days, so our two MK days I planned to get there for rope drop. However, one of those days has EMH at HS that I'd also like to attend. We're early-risers staying at the Swolphin, so it should be simple to get to HS early and be near the first let in for 8am EMH.

I'd still like to get to MK at or close to 9am RD (obviously not staying at HS for the entire hour). We have FP for 7DMT, so it's not necessary to be right at the front of the pack, but we would like to be able to do some of the other rides before lines get too crazy.

Thoughts on the possibility, timing, and method?

Bus is probably simplest, but I'm not sure how often they run HS to MK during EMH. Would a regular Uber even save me any time, given that it can't drop us at the park itself? I hate to pay for a Minnie Van, but would consider it, if it would be significantly more time-effective than the bus or Uber.

The Uber could save a lot of time if you had them drop you at Bay Lake Towers at the Contemporary. It is approximately a 10 minute walk to MK from there.

There are three of us. No car seats. My kids are 8 and 10, and pretty fast walkers.

Like the PP suggested, I'd use Uber/Lyft (or a taxi, if you feel more comfortable with that) and ask to be taken to the Contemporary. It's a short walk to the MK from there – and a shorter security line.

Is there any particular place I should ask to be let off there? @disneyeveryyear mentioned Bay Lake Towers. I know that's the DVC section - is it closer?

In my opinion, the walkway from BLT is easier. I know there is someone out there who has maps with distances. You can be asked to be let out at the BLT lobby, or even right past the guard shack.

I think someone has indicated that Minnie Vans drop off at the bus stop at MK. I can't verify that, but I think I have read that here on the DIS.

Minnie Van does drop off right at the MK bus stop. One of the perks.

I did this (or something like it) with my 7 year-old DD recently. We left HS at 9:05 and were in an Uber by 9:15 (less than a 2 minute wait for the Uber to arrive). We were at the CR at 9:26. We met up with the rest of our party outside the Main Street bakery at 9:40. I tried to get a Minnie Van from HS to cut down on the walking time, but it was a 25 minute wait for one.

This is really helpful, thank you. A few questions:
1) Where does Uber pick up at HS? It looks like a crazy construction zone right now.
2) Do Minnie Vans and Uber pick up at the same point at HS?
3) How do you know how long the wait will be before you book?

Yes, it is a crazy construction zone! Lots of barriers up all over the place. Uber picks up (and drops off) near the preferred parking area. It’s to the right as you’re leaving the park. It’s pretty well marked with cones and signs and an umbrella. I think Minnie Vans also pick up here. I saw one dropping off as we were arriving, so I’m assuming pick up is the same.

I’m not sure there is a way to see what the time is before requesting a ride. The Lyft app (which I tend to use more than Uber) shows where (some) drivers are currently located. Sometimes I find I’m matched with a driver who isn’t one of those drivers, though, so I’m not sure if it’s a completely accurate representation of available Lyft drivers or not. You have 2 minutes from the time you are matched with a driver to cancel a ride without incurring the cancellation fee. So I requested the Minnie Van, saw it was 25 minutes, and immediately cancelled (it asked me for a reason) and requested a regular Lyft.
