Due to a great deal on airfare and free dining, we will be taking an unexpected trip to WDW 8/20-8/25 and staying at CBR. My DH and DD do not realize how awfully hot it will be and I will discuss afternoon breaks with them on the plane! We will not have Park Hoppers this time.
DH likes to sleep in and have big breakfasts. DD will side with him most days. I am thinking of the following plan:

sleeping in and having a big 10 - 11 AM breakfast at the park with evening EMH that day or other resort. Spend a hour or two at the park picking up some fast passes, maybe a few rides or shows and then go back to hotel for swim and nap. Go back to park around 5-6 PM and stay until the EMH are done, (10 PM for DHS and 1AM for MK).

Are there fastpasses during EMH or are they not necessary?
Are there any shows scheduled during EMH or is it just for rides?
If my DH does not want to go in the morning, can I bring his card and get a fastpass for him, or does he have to go through the turnstiles for his card to work?

1- PM EMH-

FP's issued during the regular hours are timed so that those guests who have them can ride during regular hours.
(No FP's would be issued during the day that would have a Return Time during PM EMH.)

So, if the regular hours FP's "run out" during the day, when PM EMH begins...
that means that there would "suddenly" be 3 additional hours of time in which they COULD issue new EMH FastPasses.

WILL that happen?

Depends on the crowd situation.

They DO offer FP during PM EMH...

BUT... not for EVERY one of the PM EMHs and not on every attraction that's open.

Whether any given attraction will have FP during a PM EMH totally depends on those who manage the rides for that PM EMH.

It can change with each PM EMH or during the EMH, with no advance notice, so it does no real good, for the purposes of prediction, to say if they DID or DID NOT on any previous PM EMH.

IF the FP machines are operating during PM EMH, they "start again" at the beginning of the EMH.

If you had a "left-over" FP from earlier in that same day, and they where operating the FP queue, the CMs would likely honor it.

It is "iffy" if they will offer PM EMH FP's
at Toy Story Mania at DHS.

When they did offer them, there have been reports of LINES FORMING at the TSM FastPass machines starting about 30 minutes
before PM EMH (and FP distribution for it) begins.

2- Some.
3- Nope.
4- Yes.

It has been my experience that there are no fast passes for evening extra magic hours, that line is closed. I don't think they're necessary.

If it were me I'd get hubby up, if he's so tired he can go to bed earlier. Mornings are prime ride time before the sun melts the asphalt walkways. :lmao:

As for resting because of the heat, we just hit a few air conditioned events/rides. There is no going to the resort. Parks do have rooms (like a public playroom) were kids can rest, nap, wind down.

Not sure if you're getting the dining plan. If you guys are big breakfast eaters you can hit a 10-11 am table service breakfast or two and do a counter service for dinner.

Umbrellas are great portable shade.

We like to sleep in as well.

I've found that during EMHs (PM) that FP's are not necessary...for the few rides that are still open for EMH's you can just run through the turnstiles and ride....

For shows....we had Fantasmic Dinner pkg...and noticed the long lines when we left...but at EMH's they had an additional show (this was our last visit - July 08) and the line was still very long even though it was EMH's.....

Have a magical visit!

Mary

For us, it's up at 8-ish and to the bus by 9-ish.

To some that is considered sleeping in.

Some attractions offer FastPasses beginning when evening extra magic hours begin. I've seen this being done at Space Mountain, Peter Pan, Pooh, and a few others. It certainly does happen. If they're offered at TSM they are totally necessary and I would take advantage of them as there will most likely be a 30 min + line of non-EMH folks still waiting in line when they park officially closes. At the end of August, FPs shouldn't be too necessary during EMH, excepting, of course, TSM.
