So....help me out here! :wave2:

First off, it's rare that my family does evenings at any of the parks. AK being the exception as we used to rope drop, leave around 1 and return around 4 and stay till park close. I love the activity of the animals at night. Because EMH in the AM doesn't coincide with our trip June 2-June 6, I was talking it over with my son and thinking about doing EMH in the evening at EPCOT (June 4) and MK (June 5). MK is a definite on the 5th because that will be our last park day. We will be spending the 6th at Disney Springs. So we can definitely sleep in that day before checkout. I'm thinking we'll be okay with the EPCOT EMH because if things work out like I want them to with FPs in MK on the next day...we technically won't have to do rope drop. I can set up our first FP for park open and give us an extra hour in bed. Now...son and I have gone to bed at 11 or 11:30 and STILL woke up at 7am the next morning. I'm thinking at Disney it wouldn't be any different. We'd probably only do the first hour of EMH evening, not both. Haven't decided if at EPCOT we'll do FutureWorld or the World Showcases that evening.

I'm thinking we'll be in the World Showcases because I had planned on doing FutureWorld in the AM, leaving around 1 for lunch and returning at around 4 or 5 and going over to the showcases to do the Perry Missions. Maybe we should stay in the showcases and watch Illuminations? It'll be the last time I'll get to see it and my son's first time ever. Any suggestions on when to get a good seat? Maybe we can grab a meal at American Adventure World Showcase before it starts and just hang out? Should I drive us in that evening so I can get us back to the resort faster? I don't mind the buses, but not knowing if my son will tire out quicker than the norm might make having my own car an advantage and not sitting waiting on a resort bus and him falling asleep. :P He can be interesting to wake up when he first falls asleep. :rotfl2:

I'm told the parks are a really cool thing in the evenings and I want to experience that with my son. The last time I was in EPCOT in the evening, I was alone and in tears. :sad1: Short story, that trip did not go the way I wanted. My son nor husband wanted to come back with me that evening, so I winged it. I was sorry I did once I got there. :sad2: Anyway, I want to replace that memory in EPCOT with a fun one with my son. It may very well be 4 more years before we make it again and I want to do something this trip my family as a whole has never done. Hubby can't join us :(, his job prevents it, so my son and I are going to have the time of our lives!

Is there someplace I need to go to prove I'm a resort guest when park closes? I've only done early morning EMH and know that the Magicband upon park arrival was my "key" in as it was also our key to Pop Century. Being as we'll already be in the park, I'm not familiar with the evening EMH as I've never done it. I appreciate any help I get from you guys! Thanks! :grouphug:

From what I remember it’s simply your magic band that allows cast members to recognize you’re allowed to be there if you enter the park at that time or ride any rides. I can’t help with seating since we always just watch from whatever pavilion we’re in.

But you did help with seating by telling me you just watch from whatever pavilion you're in. :thumbsup2

With night EMH at MK the first hour was still pretty crowded when we went. Actually it didn't feel any less crowded then through the day. Crowds started dropping off the last hour and the last half hour was the best. We went to EMH when it was from 10:00 to 12:00. Just thought I would give you a heads up on that.

They will have cm's at the entrance of the ride scanning your bands to check if you can use PM EMH. Or at least thats what they were doing in January.

So the Magic band tells the CM what park you last visited ?
If you have day park pass - ie one park per day, no hopping

And with a no hopping ticket, you do MK from 8 AM to 1 PM then go back to the resort to rest/use the pool,
then go back to MK for EMH evening at 6 PM - maybe a TS dinner, then do rides till mid-night (if open that late)

Then the CM lets you back into MK at 6 PM - since it is a MK day with no other park.
Correct ?

No. The CM is simply looking to see if I am a resort guest and allowed to be in the park for evening EMH Because your tickets are linked to the magicband you are simply using it for entry into the park. The band, in a manner of speaking will not let you into a park if you are not using the tickets correctly. For example, you don't have a hopper and you've already visited say MK and now try to do entry into HS. It will blink red or blue I believe. Works the same for FP. The band only does what the FP ressie and the tickets "tell it to". It cannot tell a CM what park you've entered for the day.

What if you go to the same park MK in the AM and MK in the evening
No park hopper ticket
Can you re-enter the same park ?

I did a Wednesday evening at the MK about a month ago. It seems to get quieter towards the end. Follow a combination of your bliss and wait times on the app and you should get some good stuff in!

Found myself passing through Storybook Circus during fireworks and found that to be a neat, quiet area to enjoy them as I walked. Few people around and a nice fit to the circus theme.

Appreciate it!

We've never done DAH at MK, so I can't speak to that. Evening EMH at Epcot was just ok for us.

However, evening EMH at MK are another matter entirely! It's awesome, and that experience is practically my favorite time at any park, period. Yes, the first hour is still a bit crowded, but after that you feel like you pretty much have the place to yourself. It's truly a magical experience, and I hesitate to use that phrase casually. Even when my son was little (5), he'd do his best to conserve energy and perk up during EMH because it was so special to just roam the park together, doing everything we wanted with ease! The only downside is that some less popular attractions (Tiki birds) aren't available, and the SM line can stay long even late into the night. But, by all means, if you can go to evening EMH... DO!

DAH? I'm not familar with that acronym. And with SM are you referring to Splash or Space Mountain? If Space, I'm not concerned as that ride literally makes me ill. Splash, we'll have ridden in the AM, but I'm told it's so cool to do it at night if you can catch it while fireworks are going. I would LOVE to stay that second hour, but I'm not sure if I'LL be able to do it. My son may very well surprise me, but myself...eh. We would be doing it on the night before our checkout, so we could definitely sleep in if need be. I suppose we'll just feel it out once we're there. I plan on driving back for evening EMH because I know neither me or my son will really want to be waiting on the buses if we are tired.

We did PM EMH in Epcot during Thanksgiving week last year and it was glorious -- the entire place was empty. We rode almost everything we wanted to walk on. But it's only certain rides in Future World that are open, not the World Showcase. Still, totally worth it. I also did PM EMH at MK last month and it was pretty great too, though not as dead as Epcot was. I'm a huge fan of PM EHMs -- I wish they did them in every park.

It's going to be cool seeing EPCOT and the MK at night! My son has never seen Illuminations, so I can't wait to share that with him! :p I'm looking forward to being there now reading your post! :flower3:

Keep in mind that Disney will likely extend the hours later this spring. We went during the first week of June last year and MK was open until 11 pm or midnight each evening. On EMH night, the park closed at 11 and EMH lasted until 1 am. It was still busy for the first half-hour or so then pretty quiet after that.

Your son might surprise you and want to stay out later than normal. My fondest Disney memory is chasing my then 3 year old daughter back to the entrance of Space Mtn moments before midnight with her screaming One More Time Daddy all the way.

Oh well...if they are already open that late, I don't think DS and I will need to do the EMH hours. I'm not sure I could do it. My son would probably have no problem! He's 11 and for the first time this year, he stayed up to bring in the New Year. I believe both of us hit the bed at about 12:15 or 12:30 that morning! I will definitely do EMH at EPCOT. Do they usually extend hours or do they always close at 9pm?
