So....help me out here!

First off, it's rare that my family does evenings at any of the parks. AK being the exception as we used to rope drop, leave around 1 and return around 4 and stay till park close. I love the activity of the animals at night. Because EMH in the AM doesn't coincide with our trip June 2-June 6, I was talking it over with my son and thinking about doing EMH in the evening at EPCOT (June 4) and MK (June 5). MK is a definite on the 5th because that will be our last park day. We will be spending the 6th at Disney Springs. So we can definitely sleep in that day before checkout. I'm thinking we'll be okay with the EPCOT EMH because if things work out like I want them to with FPs in MK on the next day...we technically won't have to do rope drop. I can set up our first FP for park open and give us an extra hour in bed. Now...son and I have gone to bed at 11 or 11:30 and STILL woke up at 7am the next morning. I'm thinking at Disney it wouldn't be any different. We'd probably only do the first hour of EMH evening, not both. Haven't decided if at EPCOT we'll do FutureWorld or the World Showcases that evening.
I'm thinking we'll be in the World Showcases because I had planned on doing FutureWorld in the AM, leaving around 1 for lunch and returning at around 4 or 5 and going over to the showcases to do the Perry Missions. Maybe we should stay in the showcases and watch Illuminations? It'll be the last time I'll get to see it and my son's first time ever. Any suggestions on when to get a good seat? Maybe we can grab a meal at American Adventure World Showcase before it starts and just hang out? Should I drive us in that evening so I can get us back to the resort faster? I don't mind the buses, but not knowing if my son will tire out quicker than the norm might make having my own car an advantage and not sitting waiting on a resort bus and him falling asleep.
He can be interesting to wake up when he first falls asleep.
I'm told the parks are a really cool thing in the evenings and I want to experience that with my son. The last time I was in EPCOT in the evening, I was alone and in tears.
Short story, that trip did not go the way I wanted. My son nor husband wanted to come back with me that evening, so I winged it. I was sorry I did once I got there.
Anyway, I want to replace that memory in EPCOT with a fun one with my son. It may very well be 4 more years before we make it again and I want to do something this trip my family as a whole has never done. Hubby can't join us
, his job prevents it, so my son and I are going to have the time of our lives!
Is there someplace I need to go to prove I'm a resort guest when park closes? I've only done early morning EMH and know that the Magicband upon park arrival was my "key" in as it was also our key to Pop Century. Being as we'll already be in the park, I'm not familiar with the evening EMH as I've never done it. I appreciate any help I get from you guys! Thanks!
