EMH....do they offer fastpasses?

I got FPs during early EMH for the Safari at AK. That being said, I wouldn't bother going to AK for early EMH. When we went over Spring Break it fell on a Saturday and I'm pretty sure 90% of our resort went there that very day. Also about 90% of the total people in the park for early EMH ended up running straight to the Safari, hence the need for a FP.
We also got a FP at MK for Buzz Light Year, but it may have been just shortly after the official opening time I'm not sure exactly.

We were able to get FP's at all EMH's we went to in April.

During the morning EMH time, the FP's were for after the park officially opened.

We only did EMH p.m. at MK - were able to get FP's on some of the Fantasyland rides, but weren't able to get any for the 3 mountains.

HTH!

just back and they did not offer FP at Test track and Soarin?? It was so crowded I will never go to EMH again!!!! :sad2:

Do they distribute fastpasses for the EMH hours earlier in the day? For example, if fastpasses are being distributed for regular closing at 6:00pm, do they continue into the EMH hours right then?

We just got back yesterday and tried several late EMH. At AK, there were no fastpasses. At MGM, there were no fast passes, and 60-80 minute waits at ToT and RnR. At Epcot, there were no fast passes and a 90 minute wait for Soarin'. At MK, there were fastpasses we discovered later for some of the Fantasyland rides, I think Pooh and am not sure what else for sure. None of the major rides had them. Do not expect to get on much during late EMH unless you want to wait. The worst late EMH are MGM and Epcot. There are too many people and too few rides. AK was less crowded and MK was more spread out due to there being many rides open.

Fastpass machines and the overhead sign apparently shut off automatically about 20 minutes before park closing if not sooner (leaving a come back window of about 20 minutes for the last few faspasses issued).

The machines are usually covered up shortly thereafter. For evening extra magic hours the machines would have to be uncovered again and the system reset to issue fast passes.

Confusion would result if the machines remained in continuous operation, issuing passes for after park closing. Guests who fetched a fast pass prior to published park clsoing and with a come back time after closing would expect to ride with that fast pass sometime.

We did 1 Evening EMH at Epcot and they reopened the fast pass machines at 9:00pm. We really did not enjoy the Evening EMH due to the tremendous crowds.

for those who've just been to evening EMHs--we'll be there the first week of August, so I'm assuming crowds will be similar. Do the parks stay crowded all the way to close? I'm wondering about hitting Epcot or MGM at 10:00 or so, and whether things might be calming down?

We were not able to make it through the entire EMH because we put in a full day and planned on waking up early the next morning. We didn't notice the crowds thinning down at all for the times we tried evening EMH nor did we notice smaller crowds the morning after evening EMH. We stayed as long as we could but since without fastpass for most rides, it wasn't worth it for us to wait 60 minutes for Test Track. We decided it was best just to wake up and go get a fastpass for it. We did like AK evening EMH and thought it was really easy with no lines for everything except Dinosaur which filled up. Plus there are less rides open which makes it worse. However, on a positive note, MK evening EMH had a ton of rides open which helped us get a lot accomplished.

We enjoyed evening EMH during our last trip- we're not morning people. LOL It worked so well for us to stay out late, sleep late in the mornings. I hope they keep evening EMH foreverrrrrrrrr!

With that said... we did notice the FP machines opening back up later and continued until all FP were gone for that evening. (even on Soarin/etc.) I'm sure what someone else said is the reason they do that- so people who are NOT resort guests don't end up with a FP during EMH hours... I'm sure they'd be upset if they returned and found out they can't ride without a wristband! (but at MGM they could probably get a wristband anyway- from what we saw.... no one checking resort room keys at all! Just putting them on everyone in the line and didn't even want to see my room keys when I tried to show them! ugh)

Also to the person that asked if it slows down later on- sure does. It seems fairly packed when EMH first starts- but we learned our lesson leaving an hour early from AK EMH... EVERYONE and their dog (and cat LOL) was doing the same thing! I've never seen such a humongous long line for the All Star resorts bus in my LIFE. After that we stayed until close- and at MGM, Epcot and MK--- they all slowed down (as far as how many people were there) as the hours got later and later. We stayed until close and each time the last hour at each park was the BEST. and best of all? They let you ride the ride as long as you are in line by the time they close. For instance if Epcot is closing at midnight with the EMH hours- if you step in line at 11:59pm- you get to ride even if it takes 30min to get through the standby line. Then when you leave- no lines for buses at all. Not even for All Star resorts. :)

So if we just walk around and take in the wonderful photo opportunities and shop......are the shops and food places still open?.....for the first hour or so, then hop on some rides, we won't be smacked in face with crowds? I hope :sunny:
