We are staying on-site, but I prefer sometimes to just drive to keep from waiting in the long bus lines. Are the parking lots open early enough to allow on-site guests in for EMH?

Yes they definitely are, we usually rent a car bc we prefer to avoid bus lines and the parking lots are all open for us to park. I am not sure how early they do open though.

So, you've done early entry before and never had a problem getting in? I'm just asking because I remember a thread a while back, and I don't remember all the details, but it involved the parking lot gates not being open in time for the resort guests to take advantage of the early entry.

We've always been able to access the parking lots for EMH. When going to the MK, you will have to park at the TTC. They did check our resort ID's before they let us on the monorail to go to the park. Non-resort guests were being held for a later monorail.

How about specifically MGM? Have you ever done EMH in the mornings there and had no parking lot issues?

We usually drive and haven't had any problems getting in. A few times we had to wait before they opened the parking kiosks, but we get to the parks early and still had time to park and get to the front gates for opening. HTH

AK parking lot doesn't open until right before park opening time. So you can miss EMH if you drive.

At the TTC you might have to show your resort ID to get on a monorail.

I guess I'm trying to get enough people to tell me I'll be fine so that I'll believe it. :teeth:

I've just seen several posts about AK, just like you said, but a few have said MGM works the same way. We want to leave MGM at 9:00 after that hour is over and head straight to MK. I'm thinking we may come out better driving instead of relying on Disney buses, but I also don't want to be stuck at the MGM gates because we can't get in until regular operating hours.

Hi...

I am renting a car while staying at the Polynesian this December. I was planning on driving to MGM and AK for EMH mornings too. It doesn't make any logical sense to me that they'd keep the parking lots closed. So they are going to tell me I can't go to EMH unless I take a bus? I can't see that happening. Why would that be the case?

Charles

because they want you to use disney trans to cut down on traffic and parking lot congestion maybe? guessing that's why they provide tran. in the first place to resort guests, i wonder if any one has ever done a real count on how long it takes by bus or by car...i'm guessing it would be close.

Chasrn,

We are going the first week in Sept. I will post about whether the AK parking lot is open for EMH or not. I had heard this rumor last year, but when we were there at the end of June 2004, the lot was open as our bus pulled in (we didn't drive because of the rumor). I plan to call guest services at the AK when we are at WDW before we decide whether to drive or take the bus.

If anyone has recently had a problem getting into the AK for EMH, please post!

I remember when I was last at WDW ( 2001) that the specific parks actually opened 30 min. earlier than the scheduled EMH time. So if that specific park opens @ 09:00, Early entry would have been 08:00 ( one hour earlier). Yet you could actually get in at 07:30.
Does anyone know if this still applies?

Thanks
Nancy

Now that's a thought. I can call guest services at MGM too so we can decide once we get there.

I read somewhere that they may let you in past the turnstiles a half hour before official opening, but nothing inside may be operating yet.

Quick question if you are staying on site and looking to rent a car would do you still have to pay for parking or do you get a parking voucher?

nancym,

EE used to be for 1 1/2 hours prior to park opening - EMH is just an hour.

kbkids,

I have never heard the lot at MGM wasn't open early. We have been to many EE there, but none of the new EMH. The only late opening lot rumor I have heard is about AK - and nobody has ever confirmed this that I have seen. (with an actual, recent experience)

You'll have a parking slip that you can place in the car window. On-site guests don't have to pay for parking.

Thanks! I know we're still going to have to deal with TTC if we're driving, but after the amount of time I've spent waiting on buses at times, I'm thinking we can still get there faster by driving ourself. And then I don't have to deal with the long bus wait when the park closes. That is my least favorite time of the day on every trip!

We usually drive to AK instead of taking the resort bus. We actually experience the parking lot not being open until about 10 minutes before the park actually opened on an EMH morning. We had to wait with the other vehicles by the parking lot booths. We had a resort parking permit in our window.
