I was hoping to take advantage of the EMH during my first trip to a Disney resort in late Sept/early Oct. But everyone has me scared about the crowd levels being higher at the EMH park especially morning. What if you decide to stay at the EMH park the whole day? How bad is it?

My experience has been that EMH morning hours are well worth it - as long as you get there when the park opens. At MK, we can almost finish Fantasyland before the gates open to the general public. Another day, my DD and I were able to ride Splash Mountain 3 times in a row (5 minute waits) and we did not get to MK until 8:30am. However, I think they changed which rides are open during EMH now... I will have to check when we get there. My DD is 5, so EMH at Fantasyland is still well worth it for us.

However, that being said, we have found that the EMH morning hour park does get busier, so we leave by noon and go to another park. Obviously, this only works if you have a park hopper though. :flower:

So far, we have not had great experiences with EMH evening hours. We tried MGM evening hours last year and it was packed - so we avoided EMH evening hour parks for the rest of the week. Seems like more people are willing to stay up late... But, we am going to try again this year and see how the evening hours are.

We leave tomorrow and I was hoping to try EMH evening hours at MK on Sunday and also evening hours at AK on Wednesday. :)

We ALWAYS hit the EMH park 1st, making sure we get there early, and hit the main attractions that the kids want to hit first (Test Track @ Epcot, or Space Mountain at MK), and then once the crowds hit (about 2-3 hours after early opening), head to one of the other parks.

We find that the EVENING EMH are probably the ones that have the biggest crowds. We found that at EPCOT, for instance at 9:00pm (we went in Feb.), the fastpasses were gone. Again, Evening EMH can be crowd intense, as fewer of the attractions are open, and more people are attending the park.

At least that was my experience in Feb of 2005. It will be interesing to see if anything has changed when we go in Feb of 2006.

The EMH mornings are no problem at all. Actually, if you get to any park (EMH or not) before opening things are usually pretty quiet for the first 2-3 hours. I agree that the evening EMH can be a nightmare, especially during busy times. The crowds start arriving in the late afternoon and just keep building.
If you plan on going the a park with the evening EMH plan on leaving by mid-afternoon...... unless you want to brave the craziness.

We have had the same experience. My kids are little, so mornings are our best time. We always to morning EMH and have always made out very well. Last Easter week we tried evening EMH at MK and it was a fiasco. At 1am the lines for most rides were well over an hour. I agree that most people would rather stay up late on a vacation than get up early.

We usually stay at the morning EMH park until noon, head back to the resort for lunch, rest, pool, then head back to a different (not evening EMH) park for the evening. It has worked out very well for us, and we are always there when parks are at peak capacity (I'm a teacher...no choice on when to travel!)

HTH!
