Can someone explain how EMH works at AK? I know we def won't be at the very front of the pack getting there at ropedrop with 3 young kids, so I'm assuming everything at Pandora will have a long wait by the time we get there. My kids are too short for EE and I've heard KS is sometimes open and sometimes not. Is there anything else we'd be able to do during EMH or should we just wait for regular park opening?

ETA: We'll be there late September/ early October so it's EEMH; should have mentioned that in my original post.

1. FoP, yes. Navi River, not so much.
2. Yup.
3. In fact, I'd go to another park that morning.

It depends on what time you are talking about getting there. If it's an 8am EMH, and you are there at around 8, you can still ride NRJ if you want, with probably a 15/20 min wait if that, but yes, if you get there around 8:30 the lines at NRJ will have grown and of course FoP would be a looonngg wait. With KS, you can check to see if it is listed as open at 8 on the day you are getting there. You would have plenty of time to hit these if you aren't riding FoP or EE.

Here are the rides listed for EMH

  • Avatar Flight of Passage
  • DINOSAUR
  • Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
  • Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail (subject to availability)
  • It's Tough to be a Bug!
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris (subject to availability)
  • Na'vi River Journey
  • Primeval Whirl
  • TriceraTop Spin
If none of that appeals, then maybe head to a different park on that day as the EMH park usually is busier than non-EMH after the EMH time.

Thanks!! I should have mentioned that we'll be there in September for the EEMH, so maybe we'll just keep our regular park plan for AK and hope for the best.

Aaaah, yes, that will change things, but I don't know if anyone can really know how yet. Regardless, hope your AK goes well!

Personally, on an EMH morning, if you aren't there at the start, i would go to a different park. If you show up late, the lines will be long for most of the attractions.
For EMH, my opinion is either be there at the very start of it or skip it.

I find AK to be the worst park for a.m. emh if you have little kids. We go on Easter week, so early arrival is a must. Last year we couldn't do FOP for height requirements, I don't do any of the coasters at AK. So we literally got there and did Its Tough to Be a Bug! But I had to do it because we had to go straight from that to line up for the safari because the line was building at that point, even though it opened with regular park hours.
If I had it to do again, I'd have picked a different park for that day. Next year, we'll be able to rope drop FOP. That'll be fun, I like to get there and get to it!

In case you missed it, OP is going in Sept when AK has EMH every day of the week, so choosing a different day is the same scenario.

OP, with EMH everyday, you'll probably be fine with your regular plan, but I'd try to get to AK before 8:00 a.m. so you can at least get in ahead of offsite guests. 7:45 would be a great target and by that time the safari should be open or close to opening by the time you get back to it.
