Hi all,

On our first full day at Disney, AK has late EMH. We plan on spending the day at MK and was considering heading to AK at night. Will we be able to take the Safari or will most of the animals be asleep? :) We already have reservations at 1900 Park Fair but am willing to change them if you think its worth going to AK at night....

thanks for the input.

Never done it but I've heard really good things about the AKL evening EMH! Smaller crowds,
temperatures are moderate so the park is more comfortable. There are always animals out so I'd go for it!

When I went to the late EMH at AK last year they closed the Safari at closing time saying they don't disturb the animals after 5 p.m. they also closed two of the areas - can't remember which right now? There were several rides closed though and two of the world areas. I was deeply disppointed as I had scheduled a lot of my planned AK time for EMH... I didn't think it was at all worthwhile to to there for evening EMH!

The only things I can think of to do during the EMH would be EE, Tough to be a Bug, Dinosaur, and Tri Spin and Primeval Swirl. I am not sure if any of the shows run at night but most of the animals are not out during that time so they shut down the Safari before sundown and I think the exploration trails.

Definitly not worth it to do AK EMH evening. We were there this past July and Africa was completely closed. The park is dark and not made for evening fun. It had rained earlier in the evening so Everest was doing test runs but they hadn't opened it yet. ITTBAB, Dinosaur, and all of Chester and Hester's Dinorama (Primevil Whirl, Triceretops Spin, all of the midway games) were the only things that were open.

On a positive note it wasn't very crowded and we walked right on to Dinosaur and Primevil Whirl :thumbsup2

Although I love evening EMH at AK, I agree that you can't do much in terms of rides. There's hardly anyone there, though, so for those of us who like to wander around and admire the beauty of the Tree of Life after dark, it's great. However, there's just one show of FoTLK, no Flights of Wonder, and even if KS is going after 5:00, because it's not dark yet, I've seen fewer animals than usual. One CM explained that the animals' stomachs start growling for their supper, so most of them are looking to go back to their night houses by 5:00.

your input has been so helpful to me. based on what you all said, i won't change my plans in order to go to AK at night. i hope to make it there during one of the days.....

thanks again. really helpful!

I believe they run one showing of Festival of the Lion King during EMH. Not sure of the time though.

Wow, we went a last year. We hit a few things before the park closed (Safari, trails), then we were able to cover a good part of the park during EMH, since the lines were so short: Dinoland, FotLK, ITtbaB, Kali, (and now EE).

We also thought it was cool to see the park at night with the lights.

When I've been there, FoTLK has always been at 6:00. "Regular" park closing at 5:00, so EMH until 8:00.
